Large Scale Central

Expansion on the Clearwater Canyon

Memorial Day weekend seemed like a good time to start the expansion. I am basing it on the Port Orford RR. It will be benchwork, with a yard, a balloon track, and a turntable. First I need to start track here, where I left off last year.

And then I needed to build a bridge to reach the raised platforms.

Now cleaning up 3’ tall grass for the platforms.

Then I needed to build a long curved bridge to reach the platforms from the east end. So while SWMBO was out, I trenched right thru the flower bed.

And now I will fit the platforms in place for the yard.

More later as I progress.

John,

Was #4 really a good move? Are you sure she won’t notice?
Looks really good so far but I know I’d have to have mine on hand to supervise for that move.

Dave

Dave,
She doesn’t know it yet, but I have to build the raised portion right over her veggie garden.

Well, if this is the last time we hear from you, we’ll know what happened…

You have prepped that dog house against intrusion and made it big enough for you and the trains to be comfortable haven’t you.

Looking Good… Nice work…

jb, just tell her the horse got out, and you just took advantage of the damage.

John that is looking just great. Can’t wait to see it up close and personal. If I could just get that invite.

Wow John such a great start! It’s really a shame you won’t be with us much longer. If that trench through the flower bed doesn’t bring about your instant demise the veggie garden caper certainly will.

You sure have some beautiful trestles and bridges on your RR. Thanks for the photo tour.

LMAO… guess that pretty much sums it all up don’t it! JON, Your “trestle work” is outstanding!! I especially like how it runs through the chives (i believe) Excellent work

Nice Bridge and Trestle work… The railroad design looks interesting…
And, may you survive the ““OMG, what did you do to my garden??””

Bring a hammer and drill and we'll get at it! I've still got to dig footings (pads) for the bench work.

And then I’ll bobcat out the veggie garden.

Mike, you can fend off the little women for me.
Or I could blame you!

“But Dear, It was Mike’s Idea.”

Looking good - Super trestle John.

Naaahhh…We like to blame Andy or Steve…So it’s all their idea, that way Mike can still come over and play!

Huh???

OH yeah ....your innocent alright! Now go shine your "halo" as it looks tarnished! ;)

Anybody hear from John since his wife got home?

Dave

Still alive and kickin’  I leveled three of her vegetable beds for the area the “balloon” track will be placed.

I had to lower the approach bridge about 6" and then put it on a concrete pad.

And then install the thru truss at grade height.

I am now building the “steam-up” raised bench in the garage. When it is in place, I’ll post more pics.

Wasn’t sure if you weathered the storm or not. Looking real good John and I see that 3 section PVC pipe support in use.

That’s just three pieces of 1/2" conduit I duct taped together to make a 10’ level.
