Large Scale Central

ECLSTS -Alcove

So, I’m probably not the brightest bulb in the chandelier but… Last year Mrs. Diesel and I totally missed the whole Alcove area where all you LSC folks hang out. I’m guessing the world famous alcove is in the layout room somewhere, as we did not spend too much time there (too busy spending $$$ in the other room!!!). Can someone point me in the right direction. I’d like to meet some of y’all. Thanks.

-Kevin.

Hey Kevin try here.

Thanks Chuck, but I think there is also a place at/during the show where people hang out (I could be wrong… after all, that was quite a bump on the head I got this morning ******!!!)

-Kevin.

If you come into the layout room, the alcove is to the far left. Near the Restrooms and Snack Bar.

The alcove is at the exterior door for the hall.

I did this a few years ago…

Great Map! Thanks, Jon. Yes, we’ve been in the same location, since 2000(?). Snack Bar hasn’t moved. Head (bathrooms) haven’t moved. We haven’t moved, but one year we thought they moved the light switch. Always the same location. The original location and headquarters of ISLSMR, the International Society of Large Scale Model Railroaders, better known as “Is Less More?”. Scheduled meetings, dues and, of course, meeting schedule has remained the same all these years. Receptions to follow at announced locations. Though blamed, we were not responsible for Hooter’s burning down. Its a good place to relax, store your treasures, gather your thoughts, meet friends, show off your drag and brag or make enemies. Totally, your choice. All fights are taken outside, where Ken and Hollywood are in charge Jon brought a billboard for a couple of years, but it caused too much traffic and congestion. If you here the whistle blow, we are all outside watching the local go by or return.

Absolutely! Ken, now you know it has always been a secret society, you were elected Relief Engineer on the Swing Shift in 2005 at Fred’s, ask Gary B. Bart has it in the minutes.

Really? I must have been in the bathroom when all that was going on…sorry I missed it…

“I must have been in the bathroom when all that was going on”

Yep, that’s when it usually happens. Every time Bart misses a gathering, he gets re-elected Head Engineer. Gary has been the Comptroller for years and could pass it on if it wasn’t for the failed audits.

Attendance is not required, but highly encouraged.

 This was the year we proved Bart’s image could be seen in a mirror and photographed too

I haven’t had time to see if it’s elsewhere in the forums…Happy Birthday Jan !

Jon- Great looking map. I knew I could count on a fellow Buffalonian for directions! BTW- that map was your 8000th post.

Looking forward to meeting all of you at York.

-Kevin.

Likewise…

Ah yes, the drag n brag in the tiny conference room in the other hotel.
