Large Scale Central

ECLSTS 2018

It would be nice if when you post a picture of LSC members you could identify them so we know who we are looking at, I understand when it is a general public shot you may not know the name , Looks like the timesaver is a fun place for kids to watch and possibly operate a loco. A small sale we went to had a HO setup and the kids loved being able to operate and do some switching. Now to organize set up and start one here on the west side of the world!!

Edited, I know some people have this I don’t want the internet to know me fear, but its nice to put a face to a person you know on line

Good point, and I usually try to do that. I was just trying to show the alcove activity from years past; but, anyway I have added the names - though generally I have no clue for anyone younger than 35 (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-foot-in-mouth.gif))

I had a great time running steam and visiting old freinds and meeting new. I took quite a bit of video, but wont be able to edit it for a week or so. I am teaching a “build-your-own-kayak” class next week in Annapolis. Ill probably run some steam with Jerry B who lives about a mile from the class.

I think we would have had some presence in the alcove had there been a table and a few chairs. I saw Rooster strutting away from the empty alcove, and I caught Bob as he was drifting around near the alcove. So not having a place to land, precluded us from landing there and kibitzing with each other.

Ric…Gary thinks you should be paid to be there. I agree and there were “Many Sadden” children looking for the TimeSaver! The dice that you have to shake up and roll scares the heck outta me so I don’t play but the kids missed it!

Aunt Jan once again the show doesn’t fall on Easter weekend for a few years and I hope you will find it in your heart to make it next year as “You guys are the show” !

Was kinda hoping Maynard would fill in for you guys this year then we could run Penn Central and other odd ball stuff.

It’s Easter and one needs to think of the “Children” and what makes them happy!

Back in the day in the hood !

I need to print this and put it on the refrigerator with a caption “Never Again”.

For me the show was depressing. Only a few vendors in the hall had much stock; Nicholas Smith was nearly empty. No one had any new Aristo switches, the only item I was seeking. In fact; a saw very little track of any brand. Besides the obvious lack of presence in the Alcove, there were a few other modular layouts missing. When I arrived at about 2PM on Friday attendance was pretty light. I didn’t go back Saturday. The D&B attendance was light as well, but I really enjoyed catching up with old friends and meeting a few new ones face-to-face. Saturday we stopped to watch the first train at Strassburg then went up to Bethlehem, PA and took hundreds of photos of the old steel plant from the great walkway that has been built.

@Fred - I know you have no interest in Facebook, but if you want to get instant pictures, that its the only place you will find it. Not because we would rather post on FB than LSC, but because it is so easy with a phone to snap and post in one operation. Today from the steel mill I took a photo, spoke the caption then posted it all within 3 minutes from the front seat of my car. I have a few pictures from the D&B that I won’t get to editing and uploading until tomorrow.

Now here is another reason why less photos are here than on social media. I just spent over an hour downloading, editing and resizing the 4 photos I took at the D&B, then starting a post and creating captions for each. I was just about done when some fat finger move on my part lost the entire post. This happens to me more often than not when posting from my PC. I don’t have the patience this morning to do that all again. Sorry.

Yea, the selection of Aristocraft products is dwindling. But some vendors still have carts full of it.

There was more empty in the vendor hall then I would have liked to see, but then it was Easter weekend.

Speaking to Bob, he said that we would normally get about 70 at the D&B. We had half that.

I will try to post my picture of the alcove with Boomer posing. Later.

Jon, to avoid that I post a bit of text and every time I add a photo I hit “Post Reply”. Then I click “edit” and add some more. Much safer than having a Fat Finger event. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-foot-in-mouth.gif)

“Build your own Kayak”… cool points to Eric.

To all that take the time and effort to post pictures here; Thank You Very Much.

For all the others who call me a coward for not using Social Media, I wish you good fortune.

I have had terrible luck with computers… started with a $1000.00 phone bill; modem rerouted through Sri Lanka … only because the Phone Co. operator’s husband was caught up in the same thing, did I get on a list …

Malware? yep, Got a clunky computer trying to clear that up…

Finally I got a smart phone and I hate being tracked by it ’ Do you want to leave a revue of the store you were next to?’

I remember when Freedom meant you were free

Well it’s easy.

Easy to be used… sounds like ‘bait’ to me…

I would never call someone a coward for not using social media, however I also have little sympathy for folks who don’t use Facebook complaining about it.

1 - it’s very free and you don’t seem to have to give up your first born to use it.

2 - for those who do use it, it is very easy to instantly post pictures wherever you may be.

I really don’t care if you don’t want to use it but please stop trying to sound noble about it.

Here is what the Alcove looked like this weekend. Only one there is Boomer seen on the right. No wait! Boomer, come back!

One of the better pictures of “Boomer” (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-kiss.gif)

The D&B had less than half its normal attendance. 22 signed in, and a couple times I counted 32 in the room, so I’m going with that as the count. We’ve had north of 80 the last three years.

It wuz the wrong weekend. better luck next year.

Star Hobby told me they are booked for 2019

Jerry

Yeah, it’s the last weekend in March. 29 & 30 March 2019.

Cliff;

Who is “Ray” from Canada. Do you know where in Canada he is from ?

I don’t think he is one of the Canadians, familiar to any of the group that has known to go to York.
