ECLSTS 2016

My girl and I were traveling last year and I had already made arrangements to buy track at the show. Because of that, I had spent my budget. So when I saw a table full of parts at USA Trains table alone, I could have saved a lot of trouble buying supplies at the show. I couldn’t because I didn’t have extra money.

Having dealers bring a good supply of stuff right there makes it great for people attending the show. I wanted another SD70Mac, and also found a rare Accucraft K4 electric right at the show. What I’m saying for anyone new, is bring extra cash! I saw LGB Amtrak cars and engines and rare stuff that surprised me. I could have gone nuts and spent a few year’s budgets. Fitting the 8’ track into our packed up car alone was tuff.

It was great fun meeting the guys from this forum. For anyone new, it would be worth going to that alcove! I really wish I could go again right now. Maybe next time. Hope you all have fun and a safe trip.

Ditto. I’m glad I have a truck because I have a giant pile of junk, er, goodies to get rid of. And, of course, I always come back with stuff, too.

Hi Bob, is the D&B the main place to sell / swap stuff at, or is there some other ECLSTS opportunity you’re referring to?

Speaking of ECLSTS upgrades, it would be cool to see…

  • silent auction
  • model contests
  • swap meet

But things like that require sponsors who are doing well, & maybe volunteer booth labor… I’m new to this convention stuff, so I don’t know what things there have been in the past, or if they were, why they’re no longer present.

For the last few years there has been a table or three at the Drag n Brag for selling stuff.

Yea, usually some one has stuff to sell. They did used to have a model contest and still do, I think. It’s had various sponsors.

LSOL used to chair the model contest. I am not sure, but I don’t think there has bee one since LSOL dried up and blew away.

As for selling stuff at the show, they would probably want you to buy a table (booth space) to do that. So that doesn’t happen at the show, much.

They used to sell stuff to raise money for a cause, but that has kinda gone away too.

They do, or did, have door prizes, but I never won nothing.

As for the “Extra cash” thing. The past few years I have gone with the idea that I really don’t “need” anything. But I end up spending more then I had planned, and brought home more then I realized, until I unpacked at home. I always take some “extra cash” for just such, um, eventualities. I just haven’t figured out how, something I never saw before, knows my name, and calls my name until I finally break down and purchase it.

Edit for the cash comment.

As long as the stuff we come back with better suits our needs than the stuff we dumped we are making progress, right?

That’s what I tell Martha. “I know the truck is still full, but it’s DIFFERENT stuff!”

Remember so save room for some NEW stuff…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-foot-in-mouth.gif)

Any one who plans to head home on Sunday morning are welcome to stop by my house. I have a few planning on stopping in to check out the new layout. The layout is up and running so bring a train to run.

Looks like Ken has been out working on the pike, at 4 o’clock in the morning…now that is real MOTIVATION…and just for his guests…!!!

Fred, 4 am is a great time. Who is going to interrupt him at 4 am?

Gotta get the fire goin in the woodstove…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

I wish I could Ken - I really want to see it but I need to head home Saturday as my oldest is coming for his semi-annual 1 day visit! Maybe we can get down that way during the summer.

Please add a 4th table as I will be placing a teenager on one this year but will take offers before hand.

It’s against the law in PA to sell teenagers on Friday…

David…give him away to the highest bidder…Ken might take him on and put him to work, and facing reality…!!

…oh, I forgot to ask; does he come with all the attachments, or are they extra ? (Like an on/off switch) if not would you be willing to install one ?

Teenager, face reality? Does that ever happen?

I was probably in my…I was older before I faced reality, and I went running and screaming the other way.

Like I used to tell their mother, it won’t make it any easier, but they ain’t doing anything I didn’t do at their age.
