Base all glued up. My magnetic build plate came in handy.
Just need to sand it some, distress the wood, and figure out what color stain to use.
Drilled out all the holes in preparation for assembly. My set of tiny bits came in handy. Started cutting and bending the .040 wire as well.
Next up is priming and painting the printed parts, and blackening the brass wire.

I’m sure you’ll include this in your next step, buthow do you choose to blacken brass? I havejust started a project where I may need to do so.
Somewhere in my stuff I have Blacken-It, but danged if I can find it. May need to buy some…
I’ve had decent luck with Jax for brass. They have other products for other metals.
It blows me away that you actually kept the instructions!
Only got it a few weeks ago. Not enough time to misplace them.
While I wait for the brass blackener to show up, I sanded off the laser discoloration, and distressed the wood. A bit of dark grey stain looks pretty good. I’ll add some contrasting weathering as well. I’ll also further distress the wood and add some stains, once I get the rest of the bits painted and assembled.

were there real waterspouts, that are not conical?
i always thought, that for some reasons they need to be conical.
years and years i’m on the hunt for conical pieces of plastic pipes…
They appear to be slightly conical. Here are the parts for the 1:1 kit just after the railroad painted them…

Way back when; I wanted a “Water Plug” just like the one modeled here.
While looking around I found a “Rail King” by MTS 0 Scale Water column. Item No. 30-11007.
The basic model appeared to be closer to “Large Scale” than 0-Scale.
One of the three I modified easily by taking it apart and replaced the vertical pipe with a longer one (Brass).
This made the model look quite good beside most any of the LS steam locomotives available in 1:22.5. It also passed the 10 foot rule for the B’mann 1:20.3 locos…
I haven’t seen this MTH item listed for a number of years, but it might be of some help for those without the desire to get into kits or 3D printing.
I still have the two in their boxes and the third modified one is floating around somewhere…!!

Brass blackener finally showed up.
It works really well, and almost immediately. Color is very dark, not brown, but like a VERY deep blue/black. I’ll take it.
Once these are dry, I’ll start assembly.
Assembled the spout to the top piece. The pulley rides on the curved wire, so it’s a bit fiddly to get the tiny pin through the holes and lined up, all the while not gluing everything together so it doesn’t move. Thick ACC and a toothpick works well here.

Where did you go for the brass blackener? the stuff i have makes an initial good finish, but when wiped clean removed most of the finish.

I got this off Amazon. Took a couple weeks to actually get it. We’ll see how good the finish is, but so far it looks nice.
Column sub-assembly assembled. This tried my patience, getting the slot, the hole in the counterweight, and the holes in the outer ring all lined up. But its a neat design.
Adding the weight cabling. You attach it to the outer bracket for the weight, up over a couple of pulleys, through an eyelet on the spout, back through two more pulleys, and attach to the other side of the outer weight bracket.
Forceps and some ACC get the cable bent correctly, then some fine strand copper wire wrapped and tied around the cable makes for a tight fit.
