Column sub-assembly assembled. This tried my patience, getting the slot, the hole in the counterweight, and the holes in the outer ring all lined up. But its a neat design.
Adding the weight cabling. You attach it to the outer bracket for the weight, up over a couple of pulleys, through an eyelet on the spout, back through two more pulleys, and attach to the other side of the outer weight bracket.
Forceps and some ACC get the cable bent correctly, then some fine strand copper wire wrapped and tied around the cable makes for a tight fit.
Thanks for sharing how this is done, Bob! Such a cool design.
Most any good gun store will have it in stock.
Bob, couple questions about your BW blackener
Where did you get it? I was able to order from Wallmart, at $14 / 3 oz, eesh.
Did you have to soak the brass part in vinegar, or do any special prep on it?
Does it seem to work as well on white metal parts as brass? [edit: I just saw that the non-brass parts are resin prints, so you’ve likely not tried white metal…?]
Thanks!
Got it from the Birchwood Casey store on Amazon. No vinegar, but a light sanding with steel wool then soap and water clean.
Doesn’t do anything to white metal.
Thanks, looks like I’ll use it on brass only, and stick with Jax for white metal.
