Somebody put together a great explanation of Easter 2008 and how early it is this year. Does anybody know where that was posted?

That’s the one, THANK YOU.
Hmm, I thought it was because this year’s Easter Bunny convention was bumped up to April due to it being in Florida, and no one wanting to go down to battle the heat and humidity with all that chocolate. (It really sticks to their fur, ya know.)
Later,
K
It’s due to a population explosion among Eggliners
Ric, you might remember this one that Mario P sent out to the Brotherhood:
Easter is always the 1st Sunday after the 1st full moon after the Spring Equinox (which is March 20). This dating of Easter is based on the lunar calendar that Hebrew people used to identify Passover, which is why it moves around on our Roman calendar.
Based on the above, Easter can actually be one day earlier (March 22) than it will be this year (2008) but that is pretty rare.
This year is the earliest Easter any of us will ever see the rest of our lives! And only the most elderly of our population have ever seen it this early previously (95 years old or above!). And none of us have ever, or will ever, see it a day earlier! Here are the facts:
-
The next time Easter will be th is early (March 23) will be the year 2228 (220 years from now). The last time it was this early was 1 913 (so if you’re 95 or older, you are the only ones that were around for that!).
-
The next time it will be a day earlier, March 22, will be in the year 2285 (277 years from now). The last time it was on March 22 was 1818. So, no one alive today has or will ever see it any earlier than this year!
Phil,
That was the one I was remembering. Thank you. The other answer provided enough of the information to answer the questions. Thank you guys for your time.
And, of course, this is the “Ecclesiastical Equinox,” not the Astronomical one we think of.
And if you want to know why our calendar is like it is.

Bob, ummm about that link… ummm how bored are you to find a site like that!!!
Mark,
That has nothing to do with boredom, that is a sign of an inquisitive mind that isn’t stuck on one single, narrow track. (Any puns - perceived or otherwise - fully intended.)
Hans, I believe that sarcasm was for Bob, as for the rest of your comment, piss off !!
Did I sleep through something, again?

Steve Featherkile said:If you did, lucky you. :D Meanwhile, it's looking very much like this year's Easter bonnet will be a wool toque or parka hood. :(

Will Frosty be finished with it by then ?
Fred Mills said:Frosty's finished. Someone mugged him with an ice chopper the other day. Perp was heard to utter assorted and sundry uncomplimentary asseverations about Frosty's ancestry and habit of sticking around too long.

Fred and Chris,
With all the libations you two have on hand, I really don’t understand the grumbling. Shovel a bit, have a hot toddy, then shovel some more … until either the snow or the drinks are gone.
Hans-Joerg Mueller said:That's OK for Fred. Me, I'm not allowed spirituous libations; even gotta go easy on the coffee. But please don't cry me a river; we've got enough precip here already. And it ain't going away anytime soon. The weathergnosticators are wearing their best funereal scowls.

Sorry to be so late, but here is a shorter, simpler version of why easter is so early this year, and why it won’t be for any of us again.
Paul
Easter is early this year.

Here’s the interesting information. This year is the earliest Easter any of us will ever see the rest of our lives! And only the most elderly of our population have ever seen it this early (95 years old or above). And none of us have ever, or will ever, see it a day earlier! Here are the facts:
