But honestly, I think it will just brew more bad feelings and fights.

Terry

I agree with Terry on this.

Unless Bob has changed things, I got 2 negative reps from the same person and I was noitfied in the updates as to who sent them. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-yell.gif)

And you got an explanation from me how those two negatives and one positive came about, didn’t you? And I contacted Bob and explained the “situation” to him and he tried to fix it. Oh… and I told you I’m sorry.

Now if you want me to explain to the congregation how this came about, I can do that, too.

PS Why would I try one more time with a pos and a neg? Very simply to see if it would generate an aggregate or if it would deduct the neg from the pos. And why not try it with someone elses post? Since you were already steaming, why upset someone else.

PPS If Bob would have removed the two neg and the one pos from your count - like I asked for - you would have one positive i.e. you’d be farther behind than you are at present.

I forget about everything on the side. The only things I pay attention to is the topics and whats posted and who osted what. Other than that I got better things to worry about. I do understand why these are in place.

My negatives were apparently a well-meaning experiment also.

Hey, it’s not something to agonize over.

Greg

HJ,
Calm down already. I purposely did not mention any names. I was only explaining that when all this started, one was notified who gave the reputation.
I guess Terry WAS correct, eh?

Nope, the rep system bug was fixed.

That said, Im pondering “expiring” reputation after 30/60/90/some-number of days… Opinions?

Personally Bob I am indifferent. While I don’t like that someone gave me a negative I have thick skin doesn’t bother me. I have given posatives to show appreciation. Me personally I won’t give a bad.

So I wont miss it nor care if it stays. Personally I think someone that gives a negative without a PM is worth wasting any concern over.

Yep, that’s exactly what I found… so the 2 negatives I got I was notified, but not by who did them and not if they were positive or negative. Greg

I like the aging idea, keeps it more fair and allows one to change thier ways and loose the negative rep.

@Greg - I don’t belive the reputation system is anonymous. You get a notification in your Updates that rep points were given and by whom. So far, I only have direct experience with posative points so I could be wrong about the negative points.

All I received was a notification that I received a reputation , but it did not say who it was from or if it was positive or negative

Actually I have no idea who gave it to me. It just says someone added to my reputation. No name was given

Joe,

Well no need for me to calm down. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-innocent.gif)

While I’m at it I might as well relate the rest of this story. It started out with me clicking on the "0"s on Joe’s reputation, next thing I get a PM “What kind of games are you playing?” etc. So I asked him to explain, which he did complete with a “print screen” and a bit of steam. Next I gave him a positive and one more negative to see how this is supposed to work, then I contacted Bob. Explained how I believe this happened and asked him to PLEASE rectify it.
And yes, this was very early on, right after the “reputation” thingy showed up. So … poop happens; next time we get to try out new stuff, I’ll pick one of my friends as a guinea pig, that could make the explaining portion a bit easier. Sorry!

While I’m at it, how about resetting the reputation counts at the beginning of each month? Wipe the slate and see what happens next. Talk about irony… All this $#*! over a locked thread about toilet paper!

(Sorry, I couldn’t resist. Okay, back to the discussion)

-Kevin.

OK - Experience of others tells me the reporting has changed to annonymous - which I think is much better and definately more useful.

Rooz, best emoticon ever.

We have to give Props to BD for turning this thread into a discussion of the reputation system and making it relevent (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif)

I take that as a personal insult towards me HJ and I believe an apology is in order here!

(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)To think that the barnyard yokes on the chat, have led to this…sad…but stranger things have happened on “As the World Turns…LSC edition”…tune in at least twice a week to watch love, and hate, even dead pan humour, come together, on Large Scale Central, to show human beings, searching for a life, through their hobbies…!!!

You do? Hmmmm … I really didn’t qualify farm boy and as far as a I know “farm boy” isn’t an insult, as a matter of fact I have quite a few farm boys in my circle of friends. OTOH if you feel that you’re from better stock than farm boys … let me say I’m truly sorry.

J,M&J, isn’t all this bickering exactly what Bob was trying to eliminate! Kevin said it best when he wrote;
