OKAY…Dieseldude posted a topic entitled, “Is paper really dead?”. Why can I not post a reply to his topic?
And another thing. I made a mistake on the title of this topic and tried to change it, but the change isn’t showing up.

Dan,
You can’t post to it because Bob McCown locked the thread. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-sealed.gif)
calling anyone in the Philadelphia, PA or Stanford University area that would like to do some research. I need help researching some records and cant get to these locations myself. If interested PM me and we can discuss what is needed and what arraingments we can make. Likely it would take a few hours at each location.
Oops I just realized I posted this here by mistake I apologize
Devon
I say it was locked due to it having nothing to do with trains.
Dan’s ONLY question was why he can’t post to it. He did not question it’s contents. I think it was rather funny.
happy it was locked, and I question commenting on a locked thread, not a good time to throw gas on the fire!

I had seen that video in the past, so it wasn’t new to me. I just found it very humorous to watch again, and wanted the thank Dieseldude for posting it. And Joe is correct, I didn’t know the thread was locked.
Guilty as charged. Your absolutely right, it had nothing to do with trains. I was simply trying to share a laugh or two. In the future, I will be certain not to let my sense of humor cloud my judgement.

(but, it was pretty funny)
I think it is freaking hilarious, train related no and in that I can understand why Bob locked it, I too was guilty of doing this, but yours was for a laugh no harm no foul.
Of all the things I have said here and this gets me a negative reputation. Interesting.
A good laugh, but not very train related.
I said to my friend, “Hand me a newspaper.”
“What? This is the 21st century! Get with it!” he exclaimed as he handed me his iPad.
WHAM! That fly never saw it coming.

You need to ask Benevolent Bob to edit headers. His control promotes better continuity of threads… He won’t volunteer, the request must be made.
Eventually a thread cop will point out your mistake to you. … oops my bad (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-embarassed.gif)

Devon,
You were notified in the updates as to who gave it to you. Now you know who dislikes you. Wow, what a GREAT feature BM added…NOT! (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-frown.gif)
I honestly could care less who did it. It just struck me odd that it was that comment that did it. Seemed to be a pretty neutral comment but oh well.
Well…until our Benevolent Dictator informs us that he has swatted all the bugs in the reputation system, I am avoiding it. If I can choose to give positive rep and the system reverses it, I don’t want to use it. So if you get notified that I gave negative - It ain’t me…
Nope, the rep system bug was fixed.
That said, Im pondering “expiring” reputation after 30/60/90/some-number of days… Opinions?
What I’d like to see is that if someone gives a “rep,” either pro or con, that the name of the giver be published like it is for “Thanks.” That might slow down the use of the negative sniping.
I like the idea of at least the “bad” reputation expiring. 30 days might be good. I like the idea of being able to get back in good graces. I would assume you would expire them on an individual basis; that is they expire 30 days from the date each one was “earned”.
Not sure if I want to lose any “good” reputation I might get, as that sort of defeats the purpose, ast least as I view it. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-innocent.gif)
I like to think of reputation as sort of a measure of good contribution and I would sure hate to see people lose good rep. Though maybe the good expires after a much longer period, say a year, or even longer? That way if I don’t contribute good stuff on a regular basis, my legend begins to fade. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cry.gif)
Bob, thanks for the quick update. I like both ideas, yours and Steve’s. Time line, I would think 60 days is long enough to get the point across.
