…it’s funny what comes up when you go to Google, and type in some of our topics from here…
I even notice that the Ironwood Peter’s Pond & Western Railroad, finds a place on Google, along with our shortline partner, the Rat Portage & Mattawa Railway.
I think that; armed with the subjects posted on Google; I’m ripe for a submission to the Federal Goverment, suggesting a grant for upgrading our existing main line, and a bit of funding for an extension of the short line to Bell.
I have learned not to submit any proposal, for less than $1,000,000.00; as they are unlikely to take anyone seriously, asking for less.
I’m today, hiring a consultant, to prepare a formal submission, for the funds for the two contracts starting next Spring. So an additional $100,000.00, will be added for consultants’ fees.
Now to hire my brother to act as the consultant…
Well, I guess family comes first…but don’t forget your friends.
Besides, you can’t get a grant with only one consultant.
Fr. Fred
You will need at least six consultants
-
doing a feasability study that the railroad can be upgraded and what is required
-
preparing the engineering study with at least three alternatives
-
environmental impact study for all of the above
-
general contracting consultant
-
grant application specialist consultant (you think I’m kidding? check your connections in Ottawa!)
-
fast tracking consultant (no railway expertise required) who delivers the application personally during one of those r-e-a-l-l-y expensive meals that have become synonymous with “business as usual in Ottawa”.
Do you have six brothers?
I find it entertaining to submit news articles about my RR to the wire services using one of the free services…
Duh…!
I have two brothers, and four nephews…I’m on the correct track so far…both brothers are retired Fed employees, who have been involved as consultants.
I also have one of the IPP&W vice presidents who was just a step lower than an ADM, in the Fed Government, before retirement. I also know some other people who regularily do consultant work for both Provincial and Federal Governments.
Now that I’ve started thinking seriously about this; it might be a great project for sothing the Winter blaws…and I’m right here in Ottawa, the centre of the universe…!!!
The first step is to get our “Brunt’s Brewing & Malting Company” up and running, so that we can show some profit , by delivering grain, and fresh water from the Sludge Works; then ship the product out to our friends through our interchange partners.
The Scobie Foods is up and running, along with our lucrative Post Office contract.
We are a bit down on the Vermiculite shipments from our mining customers, and softwood lumber is down due to the American trade problems of the past.
We seem to be negotiating some sort of contract with a group in Lower Joisey, that paid us an unexpected visit, a few weeks ago. I think it’s for shipment of concrete overshoes from Craigleigh to some place in the Highlands of New York…seems like it’s NAX territory, but that’s their problem !!!
So…all is well, and great expectations are on the horizon for the IPP&W, along with our branch line partners.
Well, as a Vice President of the IPP&W, I think I should have a say. I don’t know what I’d say…but I think I should have one.
Of course, maybe I no longer have tenure as a VP?
Have your say as VP of whatever you are VP of…I’m always trying to listen through my over waxed ears…!!!
As the VP of “lower Illinois affairs”, I need to vote against anything that reduces my salary, perks and/or benefits.

The IPP&W RR has a duly regestered union. It is Certified by the Canadian Labour Relations board.
The certificate; properly signed and officialy sealed, is posted in the Anex of the general offices, of the railroad.
Due to all employees, wanting to accept the kind offer of a vice presidency, on the company’s board; there are no members officialy signed up for the union.
If any employee, wants to give up his/her position in management, and join the union; they should send in their resignation, by registered mail to the head offices of the Ironwood Peter’s Pond & Western Railroad; wait three months, then contact the Canadian Labour Relations Board, here in Ottawa; stating that he/she wants to sign a union card.
The official name of the union is posted as a sealed document; and can be viewed at any time, as per the official Federal Government Labour Laws.
The Ironwood Peter’s Pond & Western Railroad is chartered under a Federal Charter, which is also posted in the Anex of the offices of said company.
Can the VPs join the union?
