Dave T. 2021 Mik Build

This is funny. I wanted to see what a 1915 GE Rubealattor looks like and nothing was found but a link to return me to this post.

Oh well whatever it is I’m sure it will make for a really cool load on that awesome HD flat.

Maybe Devon can send you his compressed air loco when he is done? That would be a really sweet load.

I know you posted an earlier picture with the two cans included, but somehow it’s just now hitting me seeing this picture just how big the overall car is. Dang. (Who’s painting is that hiding behind the cans? I know!)

And an A-plus on wordworking, craftsmanship, not to mention all the cables and washers, etc. All the spare parts came in handy for sure, so now we can all once again justify never throwing anything out.

To me, the main thing is this is looking like it’s engineered and executed so it could be actually put into service.

@ Rick M. @Craig T. and anyone else…

So I made my very first Mik purchase ever… Stoped at our local Tandy Leather shop and bought a bottle of the Black Leather Dye, to use for a wash… The question is… What dilution rate of dye to alcohol? And what type of Alcohol can I or should I use? Denatured, or Isopropyl ( and which strength ?)

BTW: on the label the first ingredient listed is Denatured Alcohol! So that would be my first guess… but might that have an effect on some paint or plastics?

Dave, my reply is over on my build thread. In my expierence there should be no reaction on any surface, except Sculpy clay/craft paints which my become sticky.

Dave, reading the answers on the other thread for dye to alcohol ratios, its kinda like the hot dogs to buns type of ratio, if you are not careful you will wind up with a gallon of the “properly” diluted mix ! LOL

1915 GE Rubealattor on hold for a bit… With the last snows and such… My roof at my photo studio has sprung a leak, flooded a room on the second floor, leaked thru the floor and flooded a part of the ground floor studio area, where I discovered the mess… Spent yesterday doing clean up… haven’t gotten on the roof to assess the damages or cause yet… waiting on the snow to melt off, don’t want to slip and fall off a 30ft tall building… ARGgggggg!!!

Got plenty of time till Mik ends… to finish… Worst Part… had to postpone my South Arizona Snow Bird trip…Ah yup and I cremated my favorite Covid mask…

Not been a good week for the Dave…Maybe some adult beverage will help…! or spend money and buy something special…

I feel your pain. One night here it rained cats and dogs and the basement of my gallery flooded, where I stored the gallery’s frames and other stuff. Next day I sucked up thirty shop vacs full of water. A shop vac full of water gets very heavy very fast going up a flight of stairs. Oh boy, I feel your pain.

Ouch…Here’s hoping the roof damage is minimal, Dave!

Dang it! thats the kind of thing you don’t want to happen to anyone, hope it all works out cheap repair and fast

Got the roof so it won’t leak, but not totally fixed… And with that I got some time to do a bit of Mik-ing.

Got the lower Modulator Control Housing pretty much done and ready for primer.

And the other Controller Side…

The ends are done too… ( BTW: Still no can yet ! )

Stay tuned

Dave T.

I hope my lower modulator never needs a controller!

I cannot wait to see how the can comes into play! Glad to hear you will all remain dry, at least!

Got some time at the studio today to cut the vinyl logo and lettering for the Rubealattor…

And got them stuck on both sides…

Also got the modulator control center painted… Onto detailing…

that’s some nIce detailing Dave. I have the art work done for mine just need to fire up the cutter. Trying to decide if i want vinyl decals or use the reverse and make stencils.

Got the ink wash on the car… Took a brand new car and made it look 3 years old. So the only thing left for the car is numbers and reporting marks…

I’m pressing to finish the details on the rubealattor…

Stay Tuned

I like it when cars get weathered. I often have a hard time doing it but after its done they just have so much more character.

Love the subtle weathering. I usually start out that way but generally don’t know where to stop and end up going way overboard. This has turned out to be a fine looking car.

Stay tuned? I’m tuned in, (and agree on the weathering).

Still got to number and letter the car, but that’s it…
