That’s some pretty cool rod action going on there !
Pretty darn nice and it looks pretty smooth.
So, I’m thinking about your challenge in finding a home for motor and gears. How about designing a reciprocating system that drives the pivot bar at center. It could be hidden in the boiler shell.
Now that is one “Rube Goldberg” piece of machinery and I mean that in a complimentary way…definitely a work of art…
I can not wait to see that thing running and pulling that coach…
Kudo’s Rooster, for making it work

Jon Radder said:Been thinking how David could do it but it would involve some sort of control for the direction. It would be simple to put a slow RPM motor with a crankpin on a flywheel to a bellcrank on the pivot shaft. When you start the motor it may go either direction.

I made and ooops and showed you the same pictures I already showed …edited them out and adding these… Rodney…can’t power the bellcrank as it’s split in the middle due to timing issues with the wheel sets off of Percy…HOWEVER I have a plan…

Added a light walnut stain as Pioneers cab was walnut and I like that warm dirty color. The raised panels were scored out and the reddish color is the center layer of the birch ply.

Rooster looks like you use clear nailpolish on those finger nails. They look very sexy.

Rooster its not going to look good on your line. I think it will look much better on mine.
Great work Rooster. That valve gear is really wild. Can’t wait to see it all in place
Where are you going to put the batteries, and Radio control ?
It will run on track power so no need for batteries or radio control
