Looks great Rooster. Love the details. I think they will look good behinde my sons new powered boxcarl. Maybe you should just pack them up and ship them to Jersey.

I knew the boy had it in him!! What did he get?

Hey Rooster this is what he got

Cool!

I’ll have to see if I can round up some stuff for the boy to pull with that!

Nicely done, Rooster.

Would this be called a “Business Car”, or what?

Yes Lou they will be business cars “OCS” stands for office car special

J.D. Gallaway said:

My only question… what’s he gonna pull them with?

I have some plans for this but we shall see if it pans out.

At this point in time most would turn to the logical and appropriate steam power for the head end

What is steam power?

That’s when you get mad and smoke comes out both ears… (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-sealed.gif)

That would suggest that there is actually something between his ears. (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-innocent.gif)

This hurts my feelings Steve and my permit to carry them concealed is up for renewal again!

You have feelings? Huh. I learn something new, every day. (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-innocent.gif)

David, if I may be so bold as to offer a suggestion?

Since you love those unique and wonderful items, and since the Cumberland Valley was LONG gone by the time HEP came around, why not go freelance? Imagine if you will, while demolishing either the Johnstown or Pittsburg steel mills, the demolish company finds that “Big Liz” wasn’t fully scrapped out, but is just sitting rusting away? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PRR_FF1

Outfitted with a modern solid state rectifier based system, her quad motors would be able to generate more than 7,000hp. I think there should be plenty of room in her carbody for a HEP control cabinet?

David… The job you did on those cars is just wonderful… Great, great piece of work. The car end detail is outstanding.

This is exactly what I had in mind however just not that prototype. My thinking is the current CVRR has VERY deep pockets and the CEO gets what he wants. Honestly I greatly appreciate your suggestion and many times I post looking for suggestions however most here are not into what what I like. You have actually helped me in the “steam generator” thread as well with your fuel tank capacity response. I knew the HEP drank from the same tank but wasn’t sure how much it consumed. This helps me even more with my thoughts and approach.

I’m thinking “Locomotive Forney Cation” of some kind !

Well, what about a renovated GG1 using modern… nah, nevermind. If its a GG1 body, no one cares that the inside has been overhauled with modern tech. Its got to be something either unique of your own invention & design, or something that no longer exists. If you would be willing to consider steam, how about a CV T1 4-8-4 using the streamlining from the PRR T1’s?

Or, if you want to go the diesel route, how about making a matching B unit to go with your Genesis? There are parts on ebay that would allow one to do just that using another unit as the core for a kitbash. Jus do a search for LGB Amtrak, the shit that’s there will horrify anyone who realizes they have stripped down units for parts!

What else could we think of? How about an SD70-E8? using a USA 70MAC core, build a covered wagon?

In any case, happy creating. Its the invention that gets my juices flowing.

I think a 4-8-8-4 would be perfect…

I do like the Baldwin “babyface” look!

Way to many wheels and not enough junk showing although they did have around a 3500 capacity fuel cell I believe and you gotta have a big drink cause them HEP units can be thirsty and the disco ball in a few of the cars is big and runs non stop!

Edit: to state… JD is already in my head with his various posts within the forums in general but just don’t know yet even though I told him so.

I do like the DL line, even tho’ if I remember correctly, she had less power than normal I like the lines of this one;

All the do dads too!

John

Oh oh… David, How about a CVRR-owned, PRR livery inspired former UP Steam turbine electric?

After UP returned the two units, you managed to salvage them?

UP Steam Turbine Electric No.1 - Don's Depot

UP Steam Turbine Electric N.1 - RCGrabBag

Picture these in 5-pinstripe tuscan with “Cumberland Valley” along the lower flanks and an illuminated CV Keystone where the UP shield it under th cab windows.

In the Pentrex video “Union Pacific’s Mighty Turbines” they feature video of the turbines during their testing. There is one shot which suggests the logo panels under the cab are in fact illuminated with fluorescent lights.

Course, I just had another idea… This one is right up Rooster’s… alley

Norfolk Southern DD40-E No.6399

And to make my point on that last picture, here is another one…
