Cooking fun foods

Pete, if Herself is concerned about you going alone and not having any adult supervision, let me know. I’ll provide the required supervision on the trip for a small fee

Well Pete & Dan,

Here is the Lido Deck alternative that may appeal to Thereselves.

That’s $47 per person per night including food and entertainment. It could be an LSC road trip. I see Hawaii is a stop or 2 on the eleventy-seven thousand km journey.

I will help for free (well for tips) there is a stuffed croc with my name on it

I’m not coming unless I get to try grilled baramundi and roo

That looks like a one-way trip … I’m cool with that. Not sure Mama would be happy, but she’s welcome to come when she gets ready

This is more my style, however …

Rather spend time in country than looking at water for 3 or 4 weeks

Look at the return air fare, thanks to the international date line, you actually get back home before you left.

And who knows? The cruise might just line up with a Hawaiian LSC convention :innocent: …and just imagine a 2 weeks, assuming you’ve packed correctly, time to model without getting any phone calls,

Too easy.
Glad your interest was not echidna or wombat.

Bill,
I bet if you batter and deep fry echidna or wombat in a heavy oil mix I will bet to guess it tastes great!

Rooster,

You are definitely an “ideas guy”!

Mind you, there’s a lot of things that are amazing with batter. I saw a Netflix show on creating American State Fair food. Some looked interesting. Have you tried deep fried bubble gum?

I have been told by a friend that was visiting an aboriginal family in Wilcannia, echidna smelled quite very nice. They were not invited to have a taste. Haven’t seen it in the grocery store yet. I think it’s something that if you’ve been lucky to trap, you keep it for personal consumption.

Wombats are like little cinderblocks that will total a car if hit. I have only heard that the meat is “less desirable”. No one has ever said, “while it did flip my car on its roof, at least we got a delightful meal out of it.”

I want to try a Philadelphia steak sandwich. We do them here but it’s a chewy steak in a hamburger bun.

I make cheap aka not real phili cheese steak sandwiches with ground beef, chopped onions, chopped peppers, and provolone cheese. Saute it all up and then melt the cheese and slap some on some hoogie rolls buns. Makes for an easy camping meal too.

Good ones are hard to find in W. Washington so I’m sure they taste even better made the correct way.

I’m going to have to try that. Haven’t done a loose meat sandwich. BTW “W” Washington? Is that anything like “N” Idaho? Something going on in the east?

Dinner is served. And a late comer to the posted menu is Vic’s Old Fashioned Skrewball. All but the candied bacon ice cream is pictured. Its in the freezer for later.

And the verdict is. . .we have some great cooks on here. Bob’s butter chicken is excellent. For my take on Lou’s roasted beets, I peeled and sectioned the beets coated in olive oil and herbs provenance and wrapped in foil and cooked til tender, damn!!!. My Naan was good but I have yet to master the perfect Naan. But I have to say Herself’s thai pumpkin (acorn as a sub) soup is to die for. Excellent.

And Vic, excellent trade. . . The old fashioned skrewball is a winner.

Western Washington On the leward side of the Cascade mountains… Western and Eastern Washington are two entirely different landscapes.

You know the geography books that show an example of all the various terrain types in one single map? That’s Washington State. I live on the side that has the ocean, lakes, and rainforests.

I live right pretty close to the “G” in Puget Sound. The map says “Pugent Sound”. :joy: That’s pretty accurate!

Same thing with Idaho. Northern Idaho is a total different landscape than Southern Idaho. Devon lives in N. Idaho which is desert/mesa/mountain. He’s over by the “48” mark on the right hand side.

I don’t think I’ve ever heard of your group.
What spice were you?

Wait!

Didn’t your group sing…
If I could save thyme in a bottle
The first thing that I’d like to do…
Is to save every day…

Final course finally eating it today. Candied bacon ice cream. Gotta say the candied bacon is good but not sure I am a fan of it in ice cream.

Next time take the well cooked bacon and dip it in Dark Chocolate. Yum!
We first had that at a New York Chocolate Show. Everytime we make it, it disappears!

Lou,

That does sound good. The candied bacon by itself is delightful. Bacon coated in brown sugar and backed. That’s good but then taking it and dipping it in dark chocolate would be heavenly

Last night’s dinner. Scallion noodles with pork.

We have a semi-local family that makes all sorts of stuff to sell in a road side stand. One of the things they make is several flavors of egg noodles. I have some spinach and basil ones. That looks like a really good use for them. Looks really good.
