Large Scale Central

Construction on The Sunny View Line

Move it to the inside of the curve…

That would hurt! I’ve been lucky. I’ve been able to keep my stations away from curves.

Yeah!!!!!! Go Ken..... :)

see. I’m with Ken.

Maybe you should be at home working on your layout :D After all, you're a retarded fireman with no fire station on your RR. Meanwhile, we have an ADD Rooster with a beautiful fire station. Your going to have to build your fire station bigger and better than his ;) Ralph

…grinning…

Thought about that but decided to move it back to the original location. Afternoon photos are tough with all the shadows.

Where there’s a will…there’s a way…or sumthin like that…

nice… and I still like the roof alignment…

I think Sunny View has found a home. Looks good there.

and it IS on the inside of the curves…

I had one remaining R1 curve on the SVL mainline. I can’t shift over the main where it runs along the PVRR mainline. The Shady Grove Depot will be built between the two mainlines and the available space is already pushing the minimum required.

Rather than shift the entire mainline prior to the curve, I decided to take the lazy way out and introduced a “S” curve.

I measured and did a mock up of the PVRR span. 12 feet total. I have a 4ft. bridge for the foreground crossing. Clearance on the lower line is 11 inches. Plan to pour the concrete for the bridge soon. For the far crossing I’m planning an over/under tunnel. Still hashing out the details.

Ralph the changes look good, but you might think of making that clearance 12"at the over/under tunnel end

You don't think 11 inches high is enough? Clears my tallest loco by 2 inches, I believe. The high line clearance can be raised to 12 inches or even more. Getting another inch on the underpass would be tough. I'd have to raise quite a few feet of track on either side. Ralph

seems I recall that a few have needed 12" for a B’mann caboose stack. and if you have visitors with 1/20 they might not fit. Just a suggestion, and remember the tunnel portal will take room.

Anyone with large equipment can run the high line, which is the PVRR. The SVL will be limited to shorter, smaller trains due to the steep grades and tighter curves. Ralph

Looks good Ralph!

Looks better each time. I cant beleive how green everything looks and no leaves down. Starting to look like winter here already with leaves down all over and plants turning brown.

Ralph, ditto what they say… It does look good…

The next order of business is replacing the old freight depot. Termites made quick time of it. This is a pretty sorry picture of the depot. But a lightening strike took out several hard drives and various other electronic components some time ago. There are a few pictures that pop up in the gallery.

The replacement is Tootle Transfer & Storage. I built the Colorado Model Structure Grainery pretty much “straight up” except I moved the small “porch” roofs from the sides to the ends. The chimneys are just stuck on for the moment. The roof is Jade Green, the trim Forrest Green. Still some touch up and detail work to do on the building. I’ll be working on the forms to pour the base today. The building will sit a bit higher than pictured. Also adding a single boxcar siding. This will make the dock a bit odd shaped. I don’t like the small window with the walk through door. Not sure yet if I’m going to put a bigger window in or just do away with the window.

Nothing fancy, but at least the termites won’t get this one  Ralph
