Large Scale Central

Construction on The Sunny View Line

Sometimes I don’t notice how goofy something looks…until seeing a picture. With that in mind, I straightened the siding. Should make coupling a lot easier too.

I’ll cut the track just short of the building corner. The building itself needs to be raised several inches.

Doesn’t look like I’ll get the forms built today. Cold front is moving in and the temperature dropped about 20 degrees in 20 minutes :open_mouth: Ralph

Railbender strikes again!

Nice work Ralph

Looks good there. I got one of them, Mills Manufacturing, that needs the roof fixed. It had 5’ of snow piled on it last winter…

Keep on buildomg! Looking good.

I have gotten to where almost all my buildings are styrene or cement. Those termites can go through wood in nothing flat. Cedar and redwood are supposed to work but often they eat those too!

I am trying to figure out how to tie my water tower down. It gets flipped about once a month!

…winking…

My Liquor Store keeps getting knocked over!

Looks good, Ralph. I like the lines on TT&S.

You need more G scale police for the next time the liquor store gets knocked over!

Well I think that Doug needs more water in his water tank and Bruce needs more liquor in his store to hold everything down in the wind.

That would be a solution but Colorado Scale Structures won’t hold water. I do have an old Piko water tank that would hold water but it’s heavy enough that it doesn’t move.

I may try gluing some weights inside the tower. That or get some heavy g scale people with ropes!

I usually put those little eye screws into the corners of my buildings and then put some wire through the eye hole and then stake them down with tent stakes. Throw some small stone around the building to hide the screws and wire. My fire tower and water tower made it through 60 MPH winds and a blizzard.

MOW crews on the Pacolet Valley Railroad today laid down some rail for a new siding.

One new customer, Marconi Goats, is already being served.

The next job on the “to do” list is to pour the base and docks for Tootle Transfer. Ralph

Ralph… wonderful…

…grinning…

Good to see you’re getting an early sstart this year

A couple of years ago I built this downtown block. Town isn’t ready yet. I have to bring up the elevation of track running through town and also do some fill throughout the town. After two years, the wood base is warped. The acrylic covering the wood is warped and coming unglued. Windows and doors falling out. Two of the three roofs have warped and fallen in. The Texaco roof did not warp. But that building had a second story floor installed that kept it from bowing. So the block needs a total redo. In better days.

My porch steps are a huge obstruction to the view and make photos difficult.

I decided to use the walls from the three buildings as facades. I’m having to install mirrored windows and do some touch up as I go along. Here is the first section installed. Next will be “Jon’s Tavern”, around the left corner. It will be installed tomorrow.

The Chandler Hotel and Libby’s Cafe are getting a complete makeover including new paint. They will fill out the right side. Ralph

Jon’s Tavern is now “across the tracks”, just around the corner from the local industry. I still need to “seam” the three sections together and get the Chandler Hotel up. I decided against a repaint. After all, it’s no longer a fine Downtown Hotel  Ralph

Great idea. Looks good so far

Ralph I love the false fronts around those stairs, keep posting as it progresses.
