Rustoleum “Spruce green” is the same tone, but lighter overall. I havent found a good deep forest green in any rattle can that I like.
You might try taking a car side to a good independent paint store for a computer match. If it’s close to any published commercial formula, then they can probably mix it in a latex. You can thin and shoot latex with a HVLP spray system or an air brush. Some paint dealers can create custom color spray cans.
I took one of my coach sides to a local paint store as was mentioned. The first trip wasn’t quite the match I was looking for so I took it there again and got a color slightly different. I ended up mixing the two fifty- fifty and got my match. It was a Benjamin Moore latex enamel. I did some research and discovered that you could make a mix of 75% paint and 25% Windex. It worked great with an airbrush. Windex seems to work both as a thinner and a wetting agent.
Rusteloum Earthy Green for a rattle can ?
That’s not a good match for the actual car, which is more green.
I have Hunter Green and Hunt Club Green in rattle cans. They are close.
I used GN Green on my EBT stuff, which is a little darker. The middle coach here is original Accucraft, I believe. The top one is under construction so it is not GN Green yet.
Hey I just posted the color Rooster mentioned and paired the pic with the car BD has as a comparison. But the earthy green looks close to your bottom car’s tone
I looked at the Accucraft store pic not BD’s car pic before deciding on what color I would choose if I was looking for that color for that car “Which I am not” !
However hence my post but for $6 a can it’s worth a test spray. If it’s not sufficient then I would be willing to bet that $6 can could certainly be used in other applications on the OPERATING railroad that would suit the modeling era.
Only my thought’s
Thanks for all the suggestions. Helped a lot.
Deb got involved is this as well and as an artest felt that most of the collours had blue in them and various tones of pullman green do not.
We eventually chose Krylon Matt Spanish Moss which like Rustoleum Spruce green has the same tone but is lighter. Adding flat black provided a prety good match.
Eventually (long term plan) I plan to cut the sides of this car and make a better private car but for no it will work out fine.

And to add a little more confusion to the mix, at what level of sun bleach are we talking.
Stan, that car end is very nice - like the one I made for EBT Business car #20. Did you print it or cut out the original?
Pete, that is a reject 3d print i did for my Rico model which i have yet to complete, which i sold to Stan with a bunch of other bits he needed to fix his car.

As AL stated this was a part he created.
The next step in the conversion is to finish up the rear platform. I seem to remenber that someone had produced end railrailings for a private car in 1:20 but can not remember where I saw this.
Also will need steel plates to cover up the stairs to make a better standing area on the rear platform.
Any ideas?

Wow! I wish we had the colour selections you folks have up there in the far north. We do get a bit of variety from a manufacturer but it is usually one shade of ROY G BIV at a time.
Wasn’t that Docwatson Stan
That car looks like it belongs on a Chinese Railroad. Ha Ha
As I’ve said before Doc, I love your attention to detail so it’s easy to remember the things that stand out in your builds
If i remember correctly you fabricated all out of brass?
