Studied and think I’ve got it. Tape for lines, then remove tape to do the vertical wash down strokes.
And, I’m calling the structure done.

I blended the weathering with a big wide paintbrush, then clear coated the whole thing. After I attach the brackets to keep it in place, I’ll add some Sophisticated Finishes iron to various ‘metal’ bits, and let it rust naturally.
Looks great!
You did get someone to help you move it after you cut the hole in the wall to get it out, right?
I hope to get up there someday to visit your layout - name?
That turned out real nice, Bob. It seems even bigger out on the layout.
Lou, you should come up for TrainOps in August! It’s a great time.
I like it and it’s location…
I mentioned to my wife about going because it is the day she leaves for Atlanta for our next Grandchild, and I got “When I wanted to go to Boston, you didn’t want to go!”
So WE will plan a trip there soon, but not right now.
Wow, that does look fantastic…
on the bench it looked overhelmingly big.
but outside the size looks adequate.
a very fine addition to your empire.

Just tell her you want to go to Littleton…not near as crowded as Boston…

Exactly! Just north of Worcester, not anywhere NEAR Boston!
Nice addition Bob!
WOW!!! That looks great, Bob.

Digging this thread back up. This fall the coal tower suffered some wind damage when some branches fell. Both coal chutes were damaged. The side platforms were damaged previously.
I printed up a couple new platforms and made simpler (but more accurate) chutes out of PVC.
Your restoration & upgrades are looking great, Bob.
For grins, this video of the Nevada Northern’s tower shows some of the elevator detail on theirs.
Now that’s the spirit, print up more stuff without cutting down the trees that caused the damage to begin with.
Figured out the design of the second-level platforms. These platforms will also have a big wheel and chains for opening the chutes. Just need paint and gluing in place.
Second level platforms assembled, painted, and glued/pinned in place.
Added a hint of mechanism for opening the chutes (a wheel, pulley, and some chain)
One more platform to build, and then some weathering.
Looks great! Are you PLA-printing the platform in flat panels, and gluing them together? How about the ladder & cage?
Printing in PETG, and, yea, printing them flat and using epoxy to assemble. I tried to build a platform as one piece but this is easier and quicker.
The ladder and cage are Plastruct (I think) products. I want to make them out of brass, as the cage is pretty spindly and prone to breaking.
