The chute looks great!

After a few deep breaths, I decided to try the riveted look. I filed clean the side I had tried to solder, straightened it, and cut a new base. I used brass escutcheon pins, through drilled holes, cut them off short, and hammered them down.
Not bad. And temporarily clamped in the approximate location it will go.
SWEET
A bit of work on the first chute at lunch. More nuts/bolts, and soldered washers around the pivot and chain holes for strength.
About ready to build the other one, I think.
I’m thinking that with the rivets and NB that it looks a lot neater than a soldered version.
I have to agree with Bruce…looks good!
Looks great! Can’t wait to see it at the Drag & Brag! Do we need a bigger room?
Nice work Bob. That will look great installed
I agree… It looks wicked awesum…
Today’s work. An acrylic and styrene mockup of the hoist, to get the proportions right.

Golly gee wiz Dad I think it looks pretty neat myself
Some more progress. Here’s the chute door and hinge assemblies.
Door still needs another round of filler and final sanding, but it looks pretty good.
Looks good to me but I hope Shawn doesn’t see the painted pony or he will want it badly!
Other things getting in the way of progress ?

Probably shovelin snow, like the rest of us…
I have the deepest sympathy for you guys who have, by law, to shovel snow. Here snow is rare and if it some it is barely more than an inch in depth and may last up to two days.
There are no ordinances to remove snow from paths or sidewalks, in fact if you do remove snow from the sidewalk and it becomes icy and someone slips on it that could result in litigation.
All the time it is snow, or walked on snow, any accident would be deemed an act of God.
A Ham friend in Wisconsin often, in the wintertime, has to clear snow after he arrives home from his work. This after leaving home ten hours before.
Sweet Bob, can’t wait to see how you paint it.
That does look really good. It’s a bit of inspiration for my coal tower.
@Alan Snow removal in my area isn’t mandatory by law but a necessity to get around.
Some more work on the first chute hoist. Cut 2-56 threads in some brass rod, slipped on nuts and washers, then the pulley. Fit it into the supports, and added another washer and nut on the outside.
Not a bad look.
And the same treatment on the pivot for the chute door and pivot.
I am just amazed that you can visualize all the details. Good job.
