Nice work Shawn
I got most of the fire box area detailed before work. (sorry no pictures not enough time) I was also thinking about making a flat car from scratch rather then use the HLW flat. I figured since this is scratch built why not go all out. The flat should be easy to make especially with my trusty pin nailer. (sorry rooster I might have to add a few more days to the complete date if I do make the flat)

I can always count on you KenâŚ
Good one Mik. Ken agree I should ban rooster from this post. LOL
I started working on my flatcar this morning before work. All I need to do is add the decking on it and attache the trucks. Im off tomorrow so I should have the flat complete and will take some pictures. Then back to the details and start making the engine and water tank.
I got the flat car done and trucks mounted on. I think I made a good choice by making a flat from scratch. It just needs some detailing but that wont be until I get the cab done. I also got some detailing done on the fire box. I hate the look of the new wood. Cant wait to weather it. Next I start working on the engine and watertank.

Shawn, I canât wait to see how you finish this build. The flat looks great, along with the rest of the loco. This will fit right into any logging road.
gorgeous Shawn⌠can you give us a guesstimate on cost on this?
Looking real good so far
Thanks guys. Mik I would say $150. The trucks were around $60 each. The trucks were the biggest expense. If I had bigger junk collection I would have saved on the detailed parts. Eventually I will get their with junk parts LOL. Still a lot less if one were to buy this as a kit and that usually does not include the trucks. Im making this so it cn be taken apart very easily to do any future work. Plus nothing beats the satisfaction one gets from making their own -makes it one of kind.
Another update I secured the boiler to the flat and hooked up the light. Works great so far.

Movinâ right along!
