Shawn, how tall is it? I’d hate to see you do all this work just to have it get stuck in a tunnel
Mik said:LOL I didnt think of that. Ill have to try it out now. Glad someone is thinking.

I just tried and I have about an inch to spare. You had me worried Mik.

When will it be done?

Next you’ll tell me I find lost things in the last place I look!

But when you keep looking, you always find the other thing you lost the last time you looked…
14 days to go…I can’t wait!
I started doing the rivets last night. Talk about a pain in the a-s-s especially since I have nothing high tec to do the job. I have to drill each individual hole and then stick a small nail into the holes. So far its coming out good for being done by hand. One spot got off line a little but once its detailed, painted and weathered it should not be as noticeable. Off to work today then off for holiday tomorrow. Will get more done tomorrow with pictures.

Bruce will know exactly how many rivets are there so no cheating!
I got the rivets done for the most part. I might add a few more. I ended up using sewing pins with heads. I had to cut them down to make them short but once they were in the pipe it was easy to bend them inside so they stay in place. The rivets didnt come out too bad especially for someone with A.D.D. I only managed to break one drill bit and I only dropped one pin on the floor and of course my wifes foot found it. Next I have to sand and smooth out a few spots. Once my ozark order comes in I can start adding details and put a light coat of paint to see where I stand.
Shawn?? I hate to tell you this, but your 2 rivets short…
it’s looking good…

Seriously, good work Shawn.
I want to start detailing in the area of the smokebox. I can not find any pictures showing what the smoke box area looked like. So far I have the door for laoding wood into. What else would have been on the smoke box for a t-boiler? I know most of the stuff is by the water tank.
Shawn said:Do you mean Smokebox or Firebox? The smokebox is the end where the stack is. The firebox is the end where the vertical part of the T is.

I don’t know what should be on the firebox end of a Climax. Some pipes with valve handles and a gauge or two would be my guess. This is a simple boiler so there are not going to be many external pipes or valves.
EDIT to say that it’s looking really good so far.

Only two? I would have at least said 3!Seriously, good work Shawn.
What’s on the t boiler? How proto do you wanna get? first the stays went all the way around guesstimate a 5" pitch… the chain in the pic probably went down to the draft door under the floor

Other than that- a water column, 3 tri-cocks, injector piping as seen on the byers

The throttle valvw in this pic doesn’t belong on your climax, the rest is OK. The throttle is mounted above the engine

Simplified- except the main steam line should run overhead on a Climax, not down the side like a Shay… too much condensate running it that way.

Mik thanks thats what I was looking for. I dont want to go too crazy with inside details as most wont be seen.
Jon I ment fire box. I cant get all these names correct LOL
