Challenge 2

Steve Featherkile said:
Ralph,

Are we supposed to just use stuff that has been hanging out in our junk box, or can we go to the store for stuff? I can’t remember.

I think I’m confused… Wait, maybe I’m not. :stuck_out_tongue:

Steve,
Use what you have and buy what you need
Ralph

Steve fit’s in perfectly on the “Build Something Challenged” thread with a MOW theme !

Challenge 2 begins.

Subject: MOW cars/ vehicles. This can include speeders, rail inspection cars, clearance cars, bunkhouses, cranes etc. Any type of MOW equipment.

Rules:Hand tools. No plasma cutters, laser cutters etc.
Kit bashed or scratch built.
Build logs with photos-required.
Challenge ends April 1st.

Prize: TBA. So far vendors have done a fine job of ignoring me in my requests for a prize donation. However, there is still time and there will be a prize.

Procedures: If you wish to participate, please indicate so under this post by Feb.14.

Post your builders log before April 1st under “Modeling”. Title it “Challenge2 your name here”

I will open a post after April 1st for voting. Voting will be open for 2 weeks.
I’ll hash out the voting procedures after we see how many entries we have.
Any questions, let me know.
Ralph

Ok,
Last day to step up and get in on the challenge. Thank you to all of you who have taken up the challenge.
Once again I’m adding to the prize booty. Newest addition is a cross buck made by Kaiser Aluminum. At almost 8 inches tall, it is a little large. But makes a fine decoration for the train room or office.
Ralph

The list of Challenge 2 participants is now set. I’ll post the voting procedures in 6 weeks when we get ready to vote.
I’ll give everyone’s build log a “bump” at that time.

Ya lucky dawg.... I've spent the last 2 weeks hanging cabinets, hanging insulation and paneling, laying floor, shoveling snow.... and missing a clearance sale on a 8x8 wooden shed for $250 by 20 minutes (they ran out just before we got there)

On the way I found out that you CAN burn through $1500 in 2 days and mostly just wonder where in the he## it all went.

Meanwhile, I do have an idea for a project, all the parts (I think) – the REAL challenge is going to be FINDING half of it.

I’m done and your thread Ralph.

what’s wrong?

more than a month left to the deadline - and some of you did not only start to build, but have finished their projects…
does nobody honour the old traditions anymore?
such as the armchair-planning-phase of a project?

Mornin’, Korm, and a belated welcome from me

Korm,
You are not alone. While past the planning stage, my project is still in pieces.
Since I have a half dozen different RR projects going on, I am likely to finish just
in the nick of time.

Im like Rooster A.D.D. Now I am in the process of building a single stall engine house, tearing sheatrock off a wall in my livingroom, replacing my front door, repainting the living room and putting new garage doors in plus working full time 10 hour days LOL

shawn,
thats a lot of Darling-do-projects. concerning them i follow proven ways:
there is much to do. let’s wait it out.

all, thanks for the wellcome.
(tac - i had to come here, to go on enjoying your company)

well… i got a question. did i overlook something, or was there no scale mentioned in the rules? . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

as far as I know you build to the scale you like. I did something along a 1/24…22…20.3 scale.

Korm,
No scale in the rules.
What scale am I looking at in the picture?
Ralph

you are looking at H0m or H0n (allways forget which of the two)
it is 1:87 on N gauge track.

…grinning…

H0m is for H0 Metre gauge on N (9 mm gauge) track.

what do you think, if i water and fertilize it, might it grow into 1:29 till end of march?
