Now that we are home from a trip to Northern California to help my wife’s sister and family pack and move I can start on my project. I need to order the parts I need this weekend but hopefully I have enough recycled stuff to do most of it.
BEFORE I can start, I STILL need to put drawers and doors on the bottom cabinets in the kitchen, finish insulating and paneling the livingroom, find temporary homes for about 30 boxes of stuff we won’t need till spring - if then, change the storm door, and shovel more bloody snow…
THEN maybe I get to play… unless she thinks of something ELSE that needs doing

where is the problem, Mik?
you are by far the quickest modeller, i know.
if you start on march 28, you’ll still have time to spare…
Here’s what my project looks like before the saw finds it in a couple days.

The LGB knockoff has been knocked off. The photo is in My Files. It worked fine last night but doesn’t like me today!

Hmmmm??? Doug the link takes me to my files???
Randy
I uploaded the picture to My Files but it wouldm’t give me the location so I could put that in the message. It worked fine last night. And it’s such a nice pile of parts! It’s Tank Car Disassembled if you can open it.
It’s here… [code]

[/code] The problem is the spaces in the filename (represented by the %20) Let’s see if it will work without IMG tags…

Thanks Jon, that works. I know your frustration Doug, all those tags and codes confuse me too.
But a nice pile of parts there though. Gonna be interested in what you have in mind.
Also I see ya got quite a stock pile of roofing material in the background. You know beer cans make better roofing tho, ;).

Thanks Jon. I wondered why it worked fine the night before!
I used to drink beer but I wasn’t railroading then. Maybe I too will find someone who’ll give up their beer cans!
One of this year’s projects will be building a large mill for the mine. It will be “corruged” metal so it will take lots of cans. The pile is growing!
Challenge 2 is not without challenges! My model table saw died today!
Ralph is it to late to have a pro class and a Amicher class. So far I’m getting my butt kicked every witch way by some of these builds.

But I think on the last challenge, everyone was pretty good about taking skill level into account.
I think people voted for what they liked.
Anyway, the Challenge is more to get us off our butts and build something, as well as share what we have done.
And I think it has worked great, considering several, such as yourself, are doing their first builds.
I do think when it comes time to vote, I’ll have everyone vote for their 3 favorites, so we have a first, second and third place.
It is simply amazing the quality of models showing up here on LSC.
Ralph
Ralph I think the challenge is a great thing and your right it got me to try my hand at it. I had fun doing it and now I can spend the summer thinking about what I need and next winter trying to build it.
all I have to say is its going to be damn hard desiding on even a 1st, 2nd and 3rd.
Since this is my first build I’ll just be happy if I get it done! Since I’m planning a lot more operations this year I think I will add a MOW train to the operations list which means I have more cars to build!
The sound of hammers and hand saws ring through the shop of the Dirty and Dusty Railway as work continues on the MOW project. With any luck it will be complete on April 1. The MOW crew has learned a lot from this project.
