Actually, at the lumber yard in Elizabeth I saw just one center beam on the spur.

Stop! your not helping

I guess that depends on who’s side you are on. Don’t it?

Its been over a year , May 8th 2015 to be exact when I started this build . Construction has long been over and the car was shelved till I got the decals for it. Money has been tight for awhile and I had to leave this project and move on to other things. Well things are better now on the money front and I finally had Stan do the decals . Today they arrived ! YEaaaaaaaa ! I took the wheels off it and put it on the sink and washed a years dust off it . As I write this its drying . Will post pictures when I have something to show .

Making progress on the centerbeam car finally. Getting the decals on the side was easy but the ends posed a challenge . I came up with this jig made from some scraps to hold the car vertical . The coupler is resting on some foam and taking the weight of the car. The car itself is taped to the stand. Heres a picture of the car on the stand with the end decals setting up.(http://freightsheds.largescalecentral.com/users/todus2/gondola%20load/imga0890.jpg)

Here are some photo’s the complete centerbeam car. Thanks to Stan for the great decals . They went on real nice and transformed this model to the level I was hoping for when I started this car. I’ll leave it like this for now , real new looking and enjoy watching it roll by. However sometime in the future it might get weathered .The load cables will be installed eather way. Thanks to all my friends here for your comments as I built it .(http://freightsheds.largescalecentral.com/users/todus2/gondola%20load/imga0899.jpg)(http://freightsheds.largescalecentral.com/users/todus2/gondola%20load/imga0900.jpg)(http://freightsheds.largescalecentral.com/users/todus2/gondola%20load/imga0901.jpg)(http://freightsheds.largescalecentral.com/users/todus2/gondola%20load/imga0896.jpg)(http://freightsheds.largescalecentral.com/users/todus2/gondola%20load/imga0897.jpg)

You suck Mike!

Outstanding as always!!

Editing because I forgot to add that you are a “Detail Freak” !

I prefer the 10’ rule myself !

Thanks Dave , my wife thinks I have some obsessive compulsive behavior sometimes. Maybe she’s right , I don’t know.

some obsessive compulsive behavior sometimes

???

Ya think?

Excellent job

That’s just ridiculously good, Mike. Geez, I fight to get all my couplers the right height! Send some of that obsessive behavior my way if you get a chance.

Great Model, Mike… Beautiful…

Another excellant build Mike.(http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

Looks like a brand new, just shopped car to me. I mean, it looks like a real brand new, just shopped car to me. Of course, Stan’s decals really bring it to life. Wonderful job!

Looks great, nice work, thanks for sharing the build

Colin

Looks great

these modern things are not my beer, but this car looksnot only good, but like a real one.

Wow, Mike that is an absolutely beautiful job on that car. Are you going to model a load for it or leave it empty? would a model load make it too heavy? either way awesome job on it and cannot wait for the next build.

Amazing. I don’t know how you did it, and I have followed this from the beginning. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-surprised.gif)You build some amazing rail cars. I used a combination of alcohol washes , airbrush and weathering powders applied with a small brush wetted with alcohol to achieve the final finish. I also wet sanded the inside end parts of the bulkheads with 600 grit sandpaper to fade out some of the decals .

Simply Amazing!
