can’t post text without holding right click down tac
New post or replying
try another keyboard and/or other mouse, to be sure it’s not on your end.
Pretty sure it’s not the site.

Depending on which computer/browser I’m using, I don’t get a cursor in the quick reply box until I click one of the text attribute buttons (Bold, Italics, etc). I just click twice to set it back to standard text, then I can type.
Later,
K
I don’t get a cursor until I move the focus to the box either… of course all I need to do is click in the box.
I don’t see any unusual behavior.
Greg
On most computers/browsers, I need only click in the text box to get the cursor. It’s one specific computer where clicking in that window does not get me the cursor as it does on other machines, requiring me to click the text attribute boxes first. It’s not browser-specific, as I have to do this on both Chrome and Edge. (I don’t have Firefox installed on this specific computer.) Strange, but not anything that surprises me given the quirky nature of computer operating systems.
Later,
K
I’d suspect that computer has other issues. It’s also the quirky nature of the owners some times when they try to “clean up” things and affect the computer. Not saying this is true in your case, but I would not describe computers as “quirky”, they are notoriously the same all the time, even when “broken”…
But given the definition of “quirky”, unexpected traits would describe many an interaction between a computer and it’s user, that is definitely for sure.
Greg
OK, it seems to have fixed itself now. Did I mention that of the twenty-six sites I’m currently on, this is the only place that showed this ‘problem’. It began late last week but has now, thankishly, gorn.
Thanks for all the advice, Gentlemen.

Well this Win 10 thingy has completely lost me…but as long is I can e mail and surf they can keep the bells and whistles that they keep adding!!

Winders tin does torque me off from time to time.
Every major update removes my games from the computer. But when I reinstall the games, it remembers my scores. So the whole game wasn’t removed, it was just rendered un executable.
I cant visit some websites with 10. Those sites I can only visit with my so called smart phone.
Programs that I used to run, will not run in ten, and the compatibility troubleshooter only crashes when I try and use it. It never works.
I have disabled the lock screen, but the screen still locks from time to time, and I have to log in.
But, I figure that once Microsoft have been writing code for a few years, they will figure it out. Its not like they have been writing code for a few decades and (should) know all the tricks and techniques to get it right. Windows 10 is history for me. I switched to Linux Mint almost a year ago. Windows XP was great, so was Windows 7, after that it went downhill as far as I could see. Version 8 seemed poor in comparison; an attempt was made to improve it with 8.1. But 10 has so many apps that I have little, or no use for and as for long winded updates - the least said probaby the better.

Well. I have TWO apps on my cellphone - one to run my Youtube on a TV and the other is the Vihtavuori reloading manual for my shooting. That’s it. It really is. I don’t play any kind of video game - my life is frantic enough without introducing yet more self-induced stress, and my home computers just have to have a BIG screen and LOTs of memory for my image files, some of which are mighty indeed.
I’m about to upgrade my three-year-old PC, an all-in-one HP with a 24" screen that does a gazillion things I don’t need, but now does them a lot slower than it did them this time last year - planned/in-built redundancy [or am I being cynical?] So Alan, please tell me about Linux.
Remember, I’m not a any kind of Luddite, but my life seems to be going in a different direction to most people I know, who don’t seem to able to exist without social media - Facetwitch/Twitcher [whatever] - and their i-Phone, held in their left hand glued to their right ear [how does THAT work?]

Well, I know David has issues that cannot be explained, and it’s pretty interesting about the games, they must be pretty old, but I’ve got over 10 computers running windows 10 and it can be made to behave.
Also, if your computer came with 10 and it’s slower now, you have issues that should be looked at, it’s faster now than when it came out.
But this is a train forum, so it’s a tool, not a hobby for most. I’ve kept up on Windoze operating systems since inception, and there’s always changes, and always disaster stories. Kind of like switching to battery power because you can’t get good good power to your rails, whose issue is that? It depends, of course.
Greg
I have sent you a message Tac.
Greg, my games are the Microsoft games that came with the previous operating systems. Solitaire, Free Cell, Spider Solitaire, you know, the real high tech, graphics intensive games (not).
Oh, and somehow, for some reason, Mocrosoft Office 2000 will work on Windows 10. Colour me cornfused.
Office 2000 and 2003 will not run on Windows 10, they forced that obsolescence… Office 2007 mainline support expires this October, irrespective of operating system.
Microsoft is moving to getting paid each year, just like the utilities that charge yearly.
The old games won’t work too, although you say they disappear, but I think Win 10 is replacing your older ones with newer ones, the ones you mention are all available in new, free versions from Microsoft.
