Large Scale Central

Canadian Invasion - Day 3: IPP&W and RP&M

Saturday is the big day! LOTS of operations. Jean and I ran trains 67 and 68 to start with. By the end of the day, she needed a break so Bob and I ran a bunch of trains. Altogether I must have done 6 trains. Lots of fun. As usual, I was too busy to take very many pictures. :o We got there ahead of everyone else and it was still cool. Here’s Ric, Jan and Doug before we started setting up.

Gary Buchanan and Jean.

Brendan, Stewart and Doug (Stewart is Doug’s father, and Doug is Brendan’s father.) Brendan must have had the time of his life - he had more enthusiasm then any four of us - and we were all enthused as well!

Jean and Paul Norton

Andy watches over Nelson Yard, while Jane stands in front of Bell, with Glen Hammond behind her.

Jean, with Train 67 leaving Nelson Yard.

While our train was at Bell, I looked back at Ric and Andy in Nelson Yard.

And a bit closer look.

Bob and Martha with a 7/8 scale car as a gift from Paul Norton.

Martha appears delighted that it has a practical use.

Bob and our train pass through Glen Hammond.

Ric had this nifty boxcab. More on that later, I hope.

All in all, a very great time. We really enjoyed it and appreciate all of the hard work that went into making this successful. As always, it just seems to get better every year we attend.

Thanks for the pix. Glad everybody had a good time as usual, and better each year, it seems.
This year, for me the date conflicted with a family reunion in Kingston N.Y. Good, but no trains…

I certainly hope to be at the Invasion next year. Over and out.

Great pictures Bruce. I’m stealing one or two for future use

More great pics, from what looks to be a great event. Thhanks Bruce.

And yes Ric, a bit more on the boxcab, if you don’t mind

I can see with the size and intensity of the ops on the IPP&W there would definitely be a learning curve for a poor ol’ shortline operator like me.

Thanks for the pix Bruce and I also would like to see more of Ric’s boxcab.

Bruce and I have an ulterior motive for the interest in Ric’s boxcab. Stay tuned.

The boxcab not only looks good, it sounds great.

Hi Guys,
We are spending the night at the Deleware Water Gap tried to find “the Local Park Police”, but so far unable to make contact. Won’t be home until next week, so time on the net is low.

The Box Cab Herget Lumber Company X-7 “Ozark Larry” was built by Larry Herget, the originator of Ozark Minatures and a member of our club. Stan Cedarleaf provided the decals and it has Phoenix sound with Rick Izard’s Raillynx Control and a Lithium Ion Battery pack and spare. I think the original chassis is from USA Trains, but Larry built everything else. It is constructed of wood and sytrene with a lot of detail parts. All I did was add smoke arrestors provided by Aaron Loyett and messed it up some, giving it that cared for work look. Larry is quite a craftsman and it is an honor to have one of his models, so the name “Ozark Larry”.

What I liked about it was the engine turned over a few times before it started. That was cool!

That is great looking boxcab and the sounds are awsome. I had the pleasure to see it on the Kittatinny Mt RR today. Ric and his wife stopped by today. It was pleasure to have him and his wife over.

I’m all over this one!

Hello guys, It was a pleasure to do this install for Ric showcasing the RCS RailLinx 900 Control System, and I haven’t seen it in it’s final design until just know. Stan did a great job with the decal work, but I added a couple of photo’s of our install and I’ll have more info in the next few days on the RCS America website: www.remotecontrolsystems.com.
