Even the 6mm has some flex in it, but when all four sides are glued together it is quite strong. I loved using the 1/8" stuff (3mm) for trim pieces.

I’ve used the 1/4" stuff for my town building bases - and scribed lines in it to represent the sidewalk and curb. It holds up very nicely in contact with the ground.

Geoff, I’m not sure what your building will look like, so it’s hard to recommend anything specific. The 1/4" is great for walls and roof.

Bruce thanks. Lets move this ovet to my ice house topic. sorry for the hi jack

Hehehe. OK, though I really don’t think that there’s any such thing as a thread hi jack. Threads are out there for us all to learn from and it’s very natural to bring up related topics and questions within a particular thread.

Of course a new thread is sometimes helpful so folks can easily find a particular idea by topic.

Funny thing.

I had to move this building out of the way when I was installing the new siding. When I picked it up, I didn’t remember it being so heavy. We had a lot of rain this spring, and apparently a lot got in through the vents on the top. I must have had over two inches of water in the building - and it was quite water tight!

I drilled some 3/8" holes in the bottom, and it took quite a while for it all to drain.

Not as tight as a frogs hind end apparently? ;)

And how would you know this?

Do we wanna know how he knows?

Really, not really.

Aaawww…:frowning:

Bruce: Very nice Building! However I tend to use 1/4" ply wood, exterior, if I have it. I like the weight, it gets windy around here and I don’t want to be locating buildings all over the yards. I generally paint with exterior paint to seal up the wood. Yours is such a nice looking building, I’m not sure I would put it out side!

Paul

Paul, Thanks. I use the exterior paint as well; I love the sample sizes you can get custom mixed at Home Depot. The only way I would ever put my buildings inside is if I had an indoor layout. I get a lot of pleasure looking out on my layout every morning. I sure don’t have enough room inside to store all those buildings. The bigger ones are over in Jackson.
