Advisory - Rivet Counters, there is nothing to see here, move along - Late start to a winter project, however I wanted a business car in the inventory. So I am modifying a Aristo Pullman into an “impression” of a Burlington Northern car using some varnish i photographed back in the mid 80’s, similar to the Red River in this photo I grabbed off the WWW. I am sure this will grab Craig Townsend’s eye. I am calling it an “Impression” since I will be taking several (maybe too many to count) liberties from the actual model.
It did catch my eye… Good to know I’ve been made into the BN modeler here!
Neat car.
Please keep us posted.
Craig, I am struggling over the paint scheme. While I love Cascade Green, I am not a big fan of the white stripe. I did take a snapshot of a BN business car in Seattle back in 1986 that was a solid darker green. We will see.
You do realize that car is connected to a Superliner!!
I knew you had it in you John!

Why not paint it up in Grinstein green?

Did BN ever paint business cars in this scheme? The server at http://www.trainpix.com/BN/INDEX.HTM is down right now, but I believe they have some business car photos that might give you some ideas… I guess the Grinstein has a ‘white stripe’ but it’s more of a cream color then plain white…

Yep. They called it the “Executive” scheme. Really nice. Kind of a short lived paint scheme though since it came out just a few years before the BNSF merger.
Cool project , lets see more pictures !
Matt,
That’s what I thought, but I couldn’t find any pictures to confirm my memory. John could do a modified Grinstein Green paint scheme as it seems the business car has a lot more white/cream then the locomotive. But that still gives him a white/cream stripe down the middle…
I will scan in a photo of the solid dark green car I shot in 1986
Anything ever come of this?
If John takes as long as me to finish projects I’m sure it’s sitting half completed on the workbench still…

I think that’s a pretty common illness among us :]
It has stalled. After my brother passed, I took a break from the trains. I think tomorrow I will be reworking the track work at the west end of the yard.
John
Good to see you back John
