Burke Rebuild

Great progress Bob.

How about a trackplan for those who have never visited and wanna play along at home…

Looks great Bob. Hoping we can make it up for TrainOps to see it.

That does look great!

Better looking than most of the decks I’ve seen built for people.

I’m not familiar with your RR. I like the look of that TT pit.

Sometimes I think that I should build 2 different areas. One for the older era and one for my diesels!!

I’ll be lucky to get one built.

This is the latest that I have Bart. Like you I like to play along. (http://freightsheds.largescalecentral.com/users/dltrains/_forumfiles/bobmcgowinstrackplan.jpg)

Weekend progress. Got the turntable rebuilt. Cedar half-sized ties, soaked overnight in stain.

The WB approach to the benchwork. Those that have been here know there was a rhododendron too close to the track here. It was moved to another part of the yard, a block retaining wall built, and then backfilled with rock and ballast.

Bob,

Is the rock adhered to the blocks or does it just sit there?

Mortared in place. Should stay put.

When Penny and I moved into our current home a few years ago there was a large garden in the back yard. Amidst the other plants were a number of scrawny looking Rhododendrons. After an internet search she found they like acidic soil, so she bought some little sticks from Home Depot to add acidity to the soil. The following year they were twice their size and bloomed. The neighbours said that was the first time they had seen that. This year, despite being completely buried in snow for months, they were bigger and had larger clusters of flowers that lasted until a heavy rain and wind storm knocked them around.

First pass at yard layout. Three stub tracks, engine facility access, plus a few industries

Quick and dirty capacity check. Looks like about a dozen cars… (http://i.imgur.com/v0lm37Jl.jpg)

hmmmm, I only see 2 cars…

Optical illusion??? hehehe

Bob, nice work, looks cool…

Bob, does this take the benchwork against the fence out of play ? Or will it be reallocated

Hollywood, fence benchwork is a totally separate area… The trackplan layout you posted earlier is an old trackplan, and doesn’t include the area along the fence…

Correct. The track along the fence is new last year. Its the other end of the RR when I run point to point.

Here’s the latest with the new loops, Franklin Falls, and Dead Rooster Gulch.
