I see, said the blind carpenter, as he picked up his hammer and saw. (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-surprised.gif)

Excellent work on the trestle. What are your plans for the well head ?

Yes I was Just thinking that too. Maybe a grain elevator?(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

That’s certainly one idea, but this is a mountain line. Perhaps hide it with a slash burner?

Nice trestle, Shawn… (Must be the hat)…

Well head could also be a water tower…

Jon I have a few ideas. One is to get one of those well covers that looks like a rock. I could use that and weather it some to look more realistic. The other option is plants around it to hide it. My wife mentioned a water tower as well Andy but I think it might be a tad too big. If the well head was lower I could do a structure but as it stands I think it might be too big anything I built.

Now that Im up and running and got most of the landscaping complete I can start focusing on some detailed features I want to add down the road.

  • little by little I plan on hand laying my track. I started to cut the ties today (I might be crazy and maybe regret it someday but at least I can say I tried) I will keep the plastic ties for the “just in case”.

  • I need to build a covered bridge

  • The well head has to be covered still

  • at some point the loggers need a church for their day of rest.

  • Rooster needs a new homestead. I plan on building a farm modeled after an old one down the road from me.

-Ken gave me a Depot last year. I plan on fixing it up.

-I started work on a small mine. Im thinking about doing a 16mm line for it. I could do a loop around the mountain and since most of my steamers can be re gauged it would be perfect. For now Ill just do track to the yard area.

-I started the spar tree for loading logs. Just have to add some of the details. I just have the post up for now.

  • I need to build a water tower for the yard area and coaling station.

-I still need to add more spruce trees.

-I need to build some wooden benches so I can sit as I prep the steamers.

  • Im also thinking about a siding that comes off the wall for easier steam preping

Phew I think I covered most of it for now.

Shawn …as for the well head …why not a few lift off items then you can change for what ever your mood or ops pictures are/desire …a cute little wishing well with flowers in it might get you another class a climax …(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

Shawn another option might be a Hoist works for a mine. (of course a small wishing well off to the side for Rooster and his Cronies would be nice). My 2 cents worth.

Shawn, Dont forget to take a breath now and then.(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Geez Shawn! You build stuff and post it faster than I can even check in on this thread! Nice work man! That trestle looks fantastic. I see the hand laying bug has bit. Track looks good too.

I don’t think that well head is too big for a grist mill to cover. The existing terrain would be perfect for a stream to come off the hill and flow out under the trestle. Get a tiny water pump and make it flow ?

Keep it up, I’m enjoying watching.

Phew I took a few extra breaths…

Progress has slowed down some. Been busy running some trains and installing new deck railings on out deck. I started playing with the mine and I think somewhere down the road it will become part of a 16mm line that will go around the mountain and serve the mine. But that’s down the road.

I also started work on the covered bridge. So fat the decking and side frames are complete. I know the track going through the covered bridge is not all straight track. The original plan was for the gap to be smaller but the waterfall reservoir was a tad bigger then planned. Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo my story is the gguys were hitting the moon shine a bit early and that’s how the track got curvy. Thats the story and I’m sticking to it…

Since its bee raining lately I decided to start hand laying my track. So far I got the one engine house siding completed. I did not do battens on the bottom because once the ties were spiked to the rail the track section was fairly strong. Actually more rigid then with the plastic ties.

I figure worst case if its too much maintenance down the road I can just slip the plastic ties back on. It does no harm in trying plus the look is so much better.

That does look great. Do you have a Spiker or are you using pliers?

Yes that does look so much better. I know now how much work is involved in spiking. I have just finished the track on my micro. Great job.(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

Thanks guys. Jon I just use pliers. If you do a section at a time I goes fast.

Looking good. I need to get busy and build mine!

Looking good Shawn. I look forward to your post (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)
