Which glue are you using to tie those planks doen on the bridge? I need to use something on LGB tie strips for several crossings.
Doug I use titbond 3. The planks float ontop of the plastic tires. They are glued to the bottom braces of thebridge. The ties sit just below that level.

Thanks guys. Jon I just use pliers. If you do a section at a time I goes fast.
They ain’t,aren’t, are not the needle nosed ones you take a leak with are they?
Looks good!

Rooster you forget I need tweezers. You helped me pick them out after all Pliers are too big
I will try that. I use a lot of Titebond 3!
Little by little Im working my way around the layout hand spiking the track. Im just over half way done with the outer loop. All this rain helps. I just remove a section at a time. It goes fast doing it this way. Every fifth tie I use number 0 screws to hold the gauge for when and if the spikes loosen. Worst case if they loosen too much Ill replace with screws. The screws look pretty close to the spikes. Im very happy with the look so far and once weathered it will look even better. Well worth the effort.
Looks good Shawn. I have some hand spiking in my future, but not nearly that much! Are you using a jig, or some type of spacers?
Definitely looks good, Shawn… (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)
We know you was wearing the ““Hat””…
Geeze Shawn…That looks great! I was hoping I wouldnt have to hand lay my line but…Geeze Shawn!
Show off.
That pink hat must be made from the fur of that pink bunny who keeps going and going and…
Looks super, Going to be time to do the switches soon!
that is looking great Shawn. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)
Thanks again guys.
Jon im using a paint stir stick to measure the spacing. Side to side spacing im just eyeballing. I wanted that to be off here and their.
Eric it is well woth doing. When I compare the unfinished sections to the hand spiked sections, you notice the difference.
Oh yes, hand laid is the best way to go. But I am am not putting that time and effort into my outdoor railroad. Thats just my personal choice. Your mileage may vary.
Well I finally got the outer loop finished. What a difference. Next step is the reverse loops and then the switches. Need to get more cedar and cut more ties.
I have to say it goes faster then I thought. I found instead of going on the computer I use that time to spike track. I figure I have all winter for the computer.
Ya and the Pink hat will not protect you from the severe winter!
Wheres the pics! (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-surprised.gif)
Phew I got the last section of track finished. Now I just have to work on the switches but that will be late fall/winter project and do a sort section into the sawmill but that wont take more then an hour to spike. Now I can start focusing on adding details and building structures.
