Large Scale Central

Building the CR&N Deadline:July 2017

David and Sean,

You guys remind me of my Drill Instructors. I am beginning to feel this tag team atmosphere from you two. But that’s a good thing. Keep it up. Anytime this summer your welcome to come to North Idaho for a vacation and move dirt, pound posts, hang ladder, or install track. I will let you. . . I wont even charge you, you can do it for free.

Devon, I would be glad to help,

but Idaho is a bit far for me to drive. (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif)

And its not like I would want to make the trip to remember my childhood. I don’t remember anything about Idaho from my early childhood.

Devon where’s Idaho???

No need to go, I get my potatoes from Maine or PEI
The right way to invite is to say we will feed you and there is beer in the fridge! (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

PS: It’s too far of a horse ride.

I think the last 2 people to visit Idaho were Lewis and Clark…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

David,

That ballast material looks a lot like the Bluestone I was talking about. is it Granite? color looks the same as my Bluestone.

Devon, drop and give your DIs 50 PUs.

Dan

That’s Randy Lehrian Jr. track work : http://largescalecentral.com/forums/topic/23502/ebt-robertsdale-layout-build-log?page=1

Yeah Dan, that’s mine. Sure was Great of David to come over and help me get started. Always good to have veteran eyes on the team. The ballast is “crusher fines” from limestone. It’s mostly grey but has a blueish hint to it.

Devon, Let us know if you find Lewis or Clark when you start digging for the layout! (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif)Can’t wait to see the progress.

Hey Idaho isn’t that far off the beaten path. We have them fancy 'lectric lamps and indoor privies. Not sure what a fridge is but if I get the timing right I can stop the 5 ‘o clock westbound and have the guys slide off a block of ice for the ice box to put some ale in. But I wasn’t aware the ladies were coming, because the men here drink whisky or white lighten’, beer is for the women and horses.

So while “helping” the wife I slide in a little layout work in order to clean up the place. I moved my NP switch stand from the front driveway to the layout. We already had one tie down as a flower border and I laid another next to it and put the switch stand in place and spiked it down. Looks great. I left the ties long enough that they will meet the walkway and I will get some basalt cobble and ballast it. I also sunk an old pressure treated 4X4 I had from last years fence project. This will be for the fence to keep the two and four legged critters out. It will also serve as a place to hang the hose. Our frost free hydrant is in my layout area and I don’t want the hose in the layout so the post will be outside the layout and have a hose hanger on it. So both of this little projects “helped” her clean up and just happened to be something I needed done. I’m sneaky that way. I post pictures in a bit.

I do hope Devon survived the family weekend!

Devon I’ts time to get back to work on that cabinet! (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)

Oh Lord I think I made it through.

I will be back to work either doing the cabinet or the siding. One of the two will be started this weekend.

Promises, promises. (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)(http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-undecided.gif)

be nice

Devon, but of course. There is no point in being otherwise.

Things should start to get exciting. I will be able to start in earnest this weekend. I will see where I can get I will likely start with the electrical supply and putting in my order for the siding. If I get the power done I will start on the cabinet. But the most important part is we are green lighted. I will be placing my order with Llagas as well.

Electricity is rather good to have, and a large supply is recommended. Buying a large supply of it is not easy, as the problem of storing it starts to hit you in the face…!!

lol

getting a quote on 300’ of code 250 aluminum flex, 2 #3 wyes, 4 #4 L turnouts, 4 #4 R turnouts, 4 #6 R Turnouts and 3 #6 L turnouts plus joiners. Oh an one defibrillator to jump start my heart after I receive the bill.

This will build the entire plan plus a few extra turnouts and track for a couple short sidings.

Got passing sidings?

Just let your eyes glaze over and write the check (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-money-mouth.gif), it’s Destiny and it rides again and again! Well you wanted G $cale didn’t cha?

My bullet has teeth marks!

Good one John. I’ll have to remember that one! (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

There is one passing siding between the two reversing loops. I did throw in some extra turnouts for sidings as I build. But only the one passing siding.

I gave the wife a heads up on what it will cost and she said go for it. So I might have to bite down on a whole box of bullets.
