Building the CR&N Deadline:July 2017

Has the Body revolted yet to the demands of dirt moving?

Looking forward towards some updated pics!

No the body is fine but the mind and weather have taken a turn. It has been rainy and last weekend I simply didnā€™t want to work on it. Now its hunting season.

If I were smart I would gett he last of the cement poured and then I can build bench and ladder on the good days this winter. But it will likely slow down until spring.

Yeah I warmed up my chair in the basement this weekend. I just needed to fiddle with something different.

Devon, yes. I came home from work early today and I was going to work on something. But my body was tired and my mind unwilling, so I took a long nap instead.

Butt Modeling at its finest. (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-smile.gif)

David

I have a feeling that Devon will be a"bigger" BUTT modeler than you! (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Sean, I would like to do less Butt Modeling, and more actual modeling. But lately, I have been getting home as late as 7pm. For some reason, (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif), my boss has me driving 3 and 4 hours, one way, to service machines in another technicianā€™s territory.

Glad to see Devon is off Devoningā€¦(http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

I have to admit I kinda am. The last couple weekends I just didnā€™t want to do anything with the outdoor layout. I needed a break. Yesterday I buttoned everything down for winter. I can still work out there but the weather has turned and likely wont turn back so picked everything up. Still want to get the rest of the free standing ladder in. Thatā€™s the goal before the snow flies. But I think the outdoor work will slow way down to a hit and miss when I can and the weather is nice. This winter I will more or less construct all the bench work in my garage and have it ready for a one weekend install in spring.

But for know the progress will slow. Its fall, hockey season is upon us as is the pursuit for bambi. I have turned my attention to indoor projects. My little Bmann junk box loco got repaired and is ready to roll again. I am making a caboose to match it out of a Bmann bobber. I also have a Lil Hauler tank engine that is getting electronics and a small tender and will be the prime mover for an ore train that will be for the switching puzzle on the outdoor layout. I also am working on those bunks for the log cars a friend of mine and I are making and that is ready for production. So I am not stagnant but I am not working on the outdoor either.

Best of all I finished finals week. I have one 8-week session left and only one class in that session and I will have my degree completed. That means way more free time come December.

So if you graduate you will be a Master Procrastinator?

You did leave your self open for that one!

I will have a more educated understanding of how to best waste my time.

Ah. Do I need to dust off the Butt Modeling thread again?

Darn, and I was so enjoying just sitting on my butt too.

Ok, I am cornfused. In this, and other threads, there is a new word in the lexicon, ā€œDevoningā€. This is loosely defined as leaving projects unfinished as one goes off in pursuit of another project. Thatā€™s exactly what I have been doing for decades. But for some reason I was crowned King Butt Modeler for my Devoning, but Devon, is immortalized with a new verb in the lexicon.

I am proud of my title and I am keeping it. But why does one Devoning modeler get to crown another Devoning modeler the King Butt Modeler?

I am not complaining, I am just simply asking a question.

Oh, and Devon, is it done yet?

Maybe the difference is YOU are running trains on YOUR railroad and Devon is not? (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-undecided.gif)

AH! Oh! Yup, I can see that.

I think I might have been the one that came up with the term to begin with, but I canā€™t remember nowā€¦

This is how I see it according to my newly created LCS wiki-dictionary.

ā€œDevoningā€

noun, adjective,

  1. the act of pondering, wondering, planning, and daydreaming about future projects while no longer is completing the current project of building oneā€™s 1st outdoor railroad. Devoning will no longer exist when said personā€™s 1st railroad has been completed, and is operational. Instead, the term ā€œButt Modelerā€ will apply. See LSC dictionary definition for ā€œButt Modelerā€ for more information.

  2. Someone who is ā€œDevoningeringā€ is one who also compulsively post multiple threads every time one gets a new idea for a modeling project in his/her head but has yet to lay the ā€œgolden spikeā€. Not to be confused with an ā€œexperienced project designerā€ aka ā€œButt Modelerā€

Does this work?

This is why I donā€™t create too many threads about my projects until I have some evidence of forward progress to show! Time to head back to the cold garage to keep making big pieces of plastic into little pieces of plastic so that I can make bigger plastic pieces.

Maynard, just be happy that Daviding doesnā€™t have a ring to it or you might have been singled out.

Personally, Iā€™m feeling a little queasy about making a lot of smart-alecky remarks (and asking a legitimate question or two mixed in) without starting a new discussion about some new work that Iā€™ve been doing that hasnā€™t been happening lately. Iā€™m getting to where I feel I should lose my rights to smart-alecky remarks if I donā€™t make a modelling contribution to back me up.

Craig it does.

John, I should also get off my Butt and contribute, but heckling from the sidelines is so much fun.

Thatā€™s pretty good there Craig, I think it hits the subject right on the head. No pun intended. LOL

Oh Devon where are you!!!
