Building a Colorado Model

Doug, we have had colder than normal temperatures down here this winter. Maybe I need to apply some PVC glue to the windows. After I build my styrene bridges, the last thing I do before painting is applying a good coat of PVC glue to all the joints. I have not had a single connection come loose yet and the first one has been out for 5 years.

Last update for today. I have the sides going on now.

After working on this I have to admit. I have even more respect for those of you that scrach build your stuff.

I finished the Mine tonight. This was with out a dought one of the hardest models I have ever put togather. its a 10 foot model in that as long as your 10 feet away you sould not see what I messed up on. The last to pictures.

Now to see how the fire house and stores og togather.

Looking good Geoff, you’re off to the races.

On a side note, how did the trains go with the light show? Did they get the people out of their cars like you hoped. Went to your site looked like you had a good year.

Thanks David. The trains and the lights worked out great. Yes they got the people out of there cars. It work almost too good in that there were nights I could not run the trains in that it was raining or to windy and I had people out looking to see if the trains were running. Even had one guy come knock on my door and ask why I did not have the trains out. As I tell everyone. The trains my run in the rain with no trouble but I do not. It was a great year given the way the economy is. I did lots better then I truelly thought I would. I did so well in fact that the local chamber of commerce is giving me there citizen of the year award. who would have ever guest you can get a award for playing with trains.

Thanks Ron for the idea on the pvc cement. I’ll use it.
I’ll never catch up with you Geoff!
We use a woodstove for heat and I’ve been cutting and splitting wood. I inspected the layout yesterday and the rain has left ballast up to two feet from the tracks so I have to reballast!
Keep up the good work.

Congratulations on the award, and great work on your part with the collection drive. It just seemed to stick with me that you decided to set the trains out with the light display last year to encourage cars to stop to help with the food drive. You’ve come a long way on your layout and I’m glad to hear of the success you’ve had with the whole operation.

David

I still need to get the pictures from last summer up on the website. The ones of the finished mountain and that area. Its my hope to get the mine and log camp done this summer and the town looking like a town somewhat and not a putting green. need to get the front yard done so I can start on the run down the side of the house and into the back yard. Long range plains so I can have Ops and still run my trains roundy round.

The trains did get the people out. A lot of them are looking forward to comeing back this spring/summer season to see the trains run with out it being 10 degrees out. I might have to get you down here to play Yard Boss David. That is untill Andy gets back up to speed and the BS RR is back on track.

Ok. Got the Tower done tonight. I realy like the colors and thse are the colrs of the railroad. So I will have a few more buildings painted this way. Tower.

There is a building explosion going on around here. Looking good.

There sure is Doug. With all this building going on you’d think the economy would be on the upswing.
Randy

Doug and Randy your oth right. The Rockhill branch of the SPCRR is expanding. After years of getting the rail down its now the time for the people and business to start moving in and it looks as tho that is taking place. The small quarie that was run by just a few has now build a mine building as the RR has allowed its ore to make it to marked faster, the logging camp is now able to use trains to move its good and not just houres, this has all lead to the need for housing, shops, schools and such. We here at the RHSPCRR are hard at work trying to meet those needs everyday and still run a RR that makes a profit. Not easy but were tring. Thank you for your support and feel free to visit anytime.
The Management.
