Thanks Dave… You in this contest? There’s still 5 days left to pull it out of the hat…
Drool, drool.
Looks great.
Got the casting done for the Archbar trucks to go under the shorty caboose tonight.

Onto the clean up, drill, paint, mount the knuckles and I’ll be almost done.
Oooooh I think some more detail of your truck manufacturing process is needed…perhaps an article on its own?
Nope not in the challenge, but I agree with Bart
Got the hard part on the trucks done. Cleaned up the castings, Drilled out the axel holes, and the talgos. Here are all the pieces.

Ready to mount.
Pretty much done… Tomorrow I’ll make some decals, and cut some vinyl letters to give it a home.

OK Mik… about 6 Hrs left in the 2012 Challenge.
How and where and in what way to summit our entries?
Be gentle on me I’m a newbie here.
Dave, I’ll make a new post for voting… it’s easy peasy
Let’s see, there’s yours, Doug Arnold’s, My not quite done, and…
Did Robbie Hanson. Randy May, Doug Cannon, or Eddie Taylor finish their projects? Is Bart entering his combine? Or Jon Radder his plow?? Did Vic or Noel get their camera cars done? Did David Kapp decide to give it a whirl? And IS THERE ANYBODY ELSE I missed???
I need at least a finished pic of each project and a brief description and cost. Be a real shame if this challenge is a bust after the last ones went so well.
Hi Mik Maybe my switch tower would quailify. I started building it over a rainy stretch this past summer and got the basic shell done then it sat until January when I picked it back up, I clad it in cedar strips, made the windows, doors, chimney, nailed it painted it and there it is. The cost was cheap since I used left over bits from other projects both train related and not. The overall cost would be about $5 for a can of ruddy brown spray paint. The switch tower was built to stand guard over my WYE which leads to a “junction” which is actually just a dead end track so a bit of imagination is used there. Eventually I hope to find a inexpensive solar light to put in the switch tower to give it a bit of life but for now there it is. Todd

I was tripped up by technology in the Challenge. I built a camera car and it works fine.
I filmed the layout. Not great but it went well.
I downloaded it to Movie '08 and I’m still learning how to use i but I’m figuring it out.
I got my you tube account.
Then I went to download it. The section in iMovie '08 for downloading is grayed out!
Consequently it’s Monday and my movie is still not uploaded!
Back to the drawing board!
I didn’t think the plow would qualify, but if it does then by all means, consider it entered All parts except wheels came from in-stock items. Wheels cost $28 + shipping, so I guess I’m good under “FINISH an old project ?”

But Jon, have you had any snow to use it in? I know we haven’t! The National Weather Service said last week we are going to have the driest year in 100 years!
Nope. No snow to speak of. We were supposed to have “plowable snow” over the weekend according to teh forecasters. What little fell Friday night melted by mid-day Saturday, and then just a very light dusting Sunday afternoon. I’m hoping for Spring Snow. I love to be out with the snowplow in 50 degree sunshine
Doug On the movie thing. Try saving/export to the desktop as a movie file (mp3 etc.). and then use utube to upload to them. Also look at the size/rez of the file. Try it and see if it works. I have also had to rip it to IDVD first at times.
Good luck.
