Coming along nice. Cant wait for that first train to run
Looks like a fun layout!
We had the grandkids visiting from Texas on Saturday, which lead to an invasion of dinosaurs on the In-ko-pah RR.
Ever wonder how someone else sees your work? Kim was wandering around with a camera this afternoon. This is how SHE sees it.

Mik,
You sure haven’t wasted any time getting things done.
The mine is coming along nicely too.
Ralph
Some curved track came today via FedEx, thanks Dennis! So I got to close the loop. Well… temporarily, anyway - I’m still waiting for clamps from Uncle Herm (the feebay guy) before we can have a golden spike ceremony. I still need to wire the thing, too… and get another bridge

The cabin above the mine came in for a bit of detailing

For some reason I’ve been overrun with supervisors

Kimmee decided she wanted to take more pix, since the day was absolutely gorgeous

Some more of Kimmee’s pics, kind of interesting to see my messterpiece through her eyes…

Everytime I see the covered bridge I tell myself I need one on my layout. Looks nice Mik. Its great when the kids get into it as well.
The long bridge is 2 Aristo ones spliced together with an piece of aluminum box underneath to keep it from sagging. They were cheap when I got them, like +/- $25 each. There’s no way in He## I could justify doing it with what they want for them now.
UPDATE
Nice building Mik, you’re just flying along! I took the day off because we had stormy, wet weather and snow overnight.
I’ve also been cutting ?bricks? on the rock saw for a bridge that’s going to be built on the club layout. When construction starts I’ll get some pictures. If you want to see the current progress, take a look at lnwrr.org
Thanks Doug! Oh, Ralph… did you say trestle? I scored an aristo over 'n under set pretty cheaply, so we now have a nice curved trestle. – I need to make a walkway yet…

and a short one just for giggles

I think the cabin looks pretty good for a modified $6 birdhouse

And… I couldn’t wait any longer. I ran a light engine tonight for about 45 minutes… (No train, because I need to mount a coupler on the tender yet.) And only just noticed the headlight is burnt out.

A short movie by Kim – if it works http://s592.photobucket.com/albums/tt7/tigerlillie06/?action=view¤t=P1010006-1.flv
Cool.
Trains running and an audience too.
Ralph
It’s all about inspiration. You have their attention and perhaps this will reflect/inspire in years to come. Still have memory’s of my youthful sights.

I have about 5 low spots to shim tomorrow, then we’ll actually try to run a train before it rains all weekend.
And yes, the trestle is about a 1% up grade… too much trouble to pull everything again to lower the one set of cinder blocks 1/4"… So it might prove interesting with heavy tonnage
Looking good Mik. In the one pic where the engine is coming out of the covered bridge, might be my eyesight or the camera angle, but it appears that there is something funky going on with the track. Like what you did with the birdhouse. I have one just like it and you have given me some ideas now to finish it.
Ron
Ron, that bit of track is one of the ancient Aristocrap ones with the really flimsy ties. They’ve simply pulled away from the rail… again. A little shimming, a little glue and they’ll be fine for another 10 years… I hope.
Thanks for bringing it to my attention. That makes 6 spots to fix tomorrow. Plus a tender to weather, and a coach or two to paint… and we’re out of beer. lol
Mik said:I think this is a 911 matter and should be taken care ASAP. :)
and we're out of beer. lol
Thanks for sharing. Great pictures!
