After Rooster explained why he doesn’t use his real name, I wont say it.
Rooster Leghorn? Uncle Foghorn’s nephew that as a young pullet thought that crossing the road was talking about the sign at railroad tracks, and has been fascinated by trains, becoming the first Rooster to scratchbuild his own Amtrak fleet.
Rooster’s last name is Byrd and he is from Pullet, Iowa.

It seems that a person can buy changes in the rules… at least that is the impression plainly given; the majority of members indicated that the new rules were fair to begin with, and there were just two persons who complained. The other person seems to have agreed to abide by the rules.
This sets a precedence, and soon this place will just be just like the “Other place” where nick names abound…to say nothing of “Locations”…so much for the “New and improved rules”.

Bob wanted to know real identities of people, so the “real name” field in the user profile was added and suffices for his needs.

There’s legitimate (in my opinion) reasons for some people to not put their names up here.

I’m sure that if you REALLY needed know the REAL name of Boomer or Rooster, Bob could/would provide it, given a good reason.
So, those of us (me included) who believe in real names, can continue with our names… and if we wish to or not to converse with someone using a “handle”, well that’s our choice.
I would personally prefer to call Rooster and Boomer by real names, but heck, it’s no big deal to me. They are fun to banter with.

I listened to a lot of feedback, both on the forum, and via email with a handful of friends that are site members, and changed my decision based on that, and why I wanted real names. I still have real names. If nicknames bother you so much, ask someone for their real name. I know who Rooster is, TOC, Boomer, etc, because Ive either met them in person, or talked with them extensively via email or chat. I want real names and email addresses because I want to avoid someone without any kind of accountability to be able to get on the site and cause problems.

Yeah, I like Banter Roosters. And I also like Boomer’s banter. Two of the funniest guys on the board. Can’t be serious all the time, right? We need laughter during these troubling times. Trains and train talk is a great escape from all the bad news these days. I know…you knew that already.

And THAT is the whole point. On another site, I have had to ban folks who I could not find out anything about, except that their IP address was (usually) Russian.
