Large Scale Central

Bluestone Southern's Town Freeman Spur

Below is the proposed track plan for Freeman Spur…

The local will enter from the bottom… Train will consist of approximately 14 freight cars and 2 diesel loco’s… Middle track at the top will be long enough to get the motive power around the train…

Industries have yet to be determined, however am planning on a fuel tank farm, an elevator, a multiuse loading dock and a distribution warehouse…

Am considering another Coke-Cola bottling plant… These should provide a mix of freight cars…

Round these parts that has Nestle Purina and Crestline pipe written all over it. You have the PS2 hoppers and…never mind …you did Coke already and probably still are.

Looks great! Now where is Ken, my conductor. LOL!

Rookies, gotta lov’em…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

That looks challenging! Lots of “run arounds” to complete the moves.

The whole idea of the ““Industrial Park, the town of Overlook, and the town of Freeman Spur”” was to make each one a switching puzzle for folks to have fun with… I wanted each to be totally different from the other… I think I accomplished that… (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

You intentionally made it difficult? Andy you are a sick puppy!

And I heard that. Andy smiled again.

If you are doing 2 coke plants in the same puzzle then they are not different !

You could remove one of the runarounds and extend the tail track and still make the job easy to do. What you would do is block the train in the yard in accordance with the way the points are facing. When you come into town, stop short of the lead switch and cut the cars at the block split, pull the remaining train forward past the turnout and cut it off. Now run around that block and place your power between the two blocks. You are now set up to work back and forth and service all industries without an bunch of runaround moves. When done, reverse the splitting by pushing the cars onto the tail track.

That setup was done by the Santa Fe & BNSF on the Lenexa KS local for years. Only difference they put the power in the middle at the yard, and placed a caboose equipped with air horns on both ends as a shoving platform.

Yes they are, Son… One is leaded and one is unleaded… Totally different, exact opposites… (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

Cool operation, Chris…

The mainline into Freeman Spur is a 28ft <actual length - not scale>… In the operation instructions for Freeman Spur will be the notice. ““No Freight cars will be left sitting on the bridge, unattended… Bridge can only be used for moving cars back and forth to different tracks””…

How soon until we have the first picture of a freight car sitting on the bridge, unattended? (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-innocent.gif)

Or do we have to wait until I show up?

Ummm, It would be interesting to see an unattended car sitting on the bridge, as the bridge is 1% upgrade to Freeman Spur… I’m thinking it would kinda be like folks setting out freight cars at Sparta, and not blocking the cars… Next thing you know, the cars are almost sitting in Woodlawn…

Now it’s starting to sound like a challenge! (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)

Kinda like YOUR train Hollywood …the day you lost a Gorilla on the CVRR !

Below are some pictures of the end wall of Freeman Spur.

The base roadbed is in for the Main track and the 2 side tracks…

Below is the bridge approach to Freeman Spur…

The following pictures show the bridge grade up to Freeman Spur… First piture is the west end, and second picture is the east end…

The bridge in front is the mainline to Memphis, and that bridge is level, so you can see the rise up to Freeman Spur on the back bridge…

Hence, the reason of the rule that no unattended cars will be left on the bridge… (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-sealed.gif)
