Bluestone Southern's May 2019 OPS session

Just a reminder that Bluestone Southern Operations weekends start in May 2019… Times and dates are in the events forum…

Last year, we had some ““Sand Pipers”” build a nest that contained 4 eggs next to a switch throw on the east end of Freeman Spur…

As of last week, we now have a nest along side the siding to the warehouse at Freeman Spur as seen in the picture below:

You can see the 2 eggs in the nest just right of the curve, above the leaf pieces in the curve…

Hope they hatch before the May OPS…

Folks are more than welcome to attend… A heads up as to participation would be helpful, but not required…

The whole format is to play with operations of trains and have fun…

The sand pipers ain’t mine as I was working that weekend

I think there would need to be some DNA testing, as they have long, spindly legs… (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

Becoming a sign of Spring, if the Sandpipers have placed eggs near the track, it must be getting close to the “Bluestone Southern” Ops Session of the year. Can’t wait!

Sure hope we can make it to the Fall session. Maybe by then there will be some bacon or sausage so the eggs aren’t that lonely… (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-foot-in-mouth.gif)

Dang! I didn’t know that having sausage or bacon was tied to a neighbor! (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-foot-in-mouth.gif)Apparently I am DOOMED!

I hope it dries out enough. We went through there heading out to Branson and it seemed like most of the state was under water.

Most of the state is, at the moment… Only good part is, there is not standing water in the yard… It all drains nicely…

Give it a day with sun and a breeze and it dries out quickly… (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

Good Friday was gloomy and rainy in the area. Yesterday, Saturday, was bright sunshine and this Easter Morning is turning out to be picture perfect.

For those curious about the bird eggs… Just saw 3 babies running from my tractor under the double bridge from Woodlawn…

You sick person. Chasing baby birds with a lawn tractor. (https://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)(https://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-smile.gif)

Edit to say, that was probably one of those rare times when Andy smiled. (https://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

probably encouraging the birds with a bird of his own !!!

Naw, Pete… The neighbor has all the chickens…

Actually, discovered another nest yesterday… And, the original nest hasn’t hatched yet…

The 4 young ones running around had to have been a 3rd nest…

Going to have to change the name to ““Bluestone Southern RR Hatchery””, I guess… (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

Sandpipers is easier to think of… besides, I think they are a little too small to kill deer… (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-innocent.gif)(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)
