Large Scale Central

Bluestone Southern Indoor Upper level layout

And for the latest update:

Starting from the road in the center of town and moving to the right…

A little closer picture…

And an even closer picture…

And moving left from the center of town…

Below is an overall look of the right side of the town and area…

And another overall look to the left…

Most of the work being done now is all detail work… Probably hard to notice unless you compare them to earlier pictures…

More work on the horse farm area, and the buildings further back… Also much more definition of the woods on the background

hills…

So, that’s the latest updated pictures…

I’m really enjoying watching this world come to life! Thanks for sharing!

Absolutely wonderful. You have truly found a gem!

You can get lost in the detail (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

We have been working on clouds as of late…

Below is a shot of the last town she painted before adding clouds…

Below is a shot after adding a few clouds…

Below is a shot of the clouds on the west wall at the end of the Coke-Cola plant parking lot…

Below is a shot of the clouds over the Coke-Cola plant…

On the wall at the end of the freight yard, I wanted to extend the yard into the wall…

Below is a shot of the first boxcar being painted on the wall… Hope to extend the yard by 3 or 4 freight cars…

You can just see the end of the real boxcar on the left that is in the actual freight yard…

Am running, no am out of space in both freight sheds, so I need to figure something out…

Anyway, above is the update from the past week…

Great work!

Am running, no am out of space in both freight sheds, so I need to figure something out…

Why don’t you just Subscribe to LSC at the Bronze level for $25/year and get an increase of 500MB in freight yard storage? (https://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

500 MG?? Thought the freight shed max was 50.00 MG…

Don’t see anywhere where I can see the different levels of membership…

Well, I guess it’s time for a little update… Jane and I have been working on the peninsula
section of the indoor portion of the layout… My vision for the peninsula was to make it like
one huge mountain cliff… So, we have been cutting out foam board to place on the peninsula…

Below is about the way folks have seen it for a few years… We started stacking foam board
from the end of the peninsula…

Below picture is from the other side… The tall stack to the right of the picture is the stack that has been there for a few years…

as we kept working stacking the foam board…

and more…

to be continued…

We also worked on the other side…

the below picture is at the end of the above picture… There will be 2 tunnel portals
and the diamond will be hidden behind the cliffs…

the below picture is the opposite side where the 2 tracks emerge…

to be cont…

when i clicked on this thread, the forum sent me to post # 1.
as the pics of your great indoors are a pleasure to look at, i did not scroll down, but went pic by pic through the thread.

so i noticed, that there are a lot of pics in the third section of the thread, that do not show. (the pesky http/https problem i suppose)

i’m getting curious, how you’ll make mountains.

how do you cut your foam? with a saw, hot wire or a knife?

and for the final few pictures:

This is the last few shots in the above thread with the
finished stack of foam board…

Korm, hopefully, the cliffs will be made with about all the tools you mentioned…
We have some material left over to practice on to see how well we can do…
Have been watching some youtube videos and different ways to make the cliff walls…
Our first step is to glue them all together so we can shape the wall and rock formations
on the cliffs…

Forgot to mention, on the bottom picture, at the right is a lift out bridge (with the white board)
and behind that will be a lift out section of cliff… When we do outside operations, we need access to the inside of the peninsula to get freight cars out…

Playing with tunnel portals, I created the 4 from 1 inch thick foam board…
Below gives a somewhat idea as to how it will look…

The below shot is the north side (front side) of basement…

The below picture is the south side…

The placement of the locations are all determined by situations both on the railroad and
access to water shutoffs for outside faucets located in the ceiling and the entrance to the inside
of the peninsula…

As long as this thread is getting, I do believe that I will Start a "“Part 2"” with the next entry…

some unasked for advices:

white glue for wood does not destroy the foam, but can take days to dry with your large sheets.
get shashlik sticks and stick them crosswise inclined through two or three layers to hold the foamsheets in position.
big kichen knives (no sawblade) are good for cutting foam.
keep them sharp and put them in hot water. then it is like cutting butter.

tunnel portals can be scribed either with permanent markers, or with a weak soldering iron with a broad tip. (or one of these irons for marking/burning wood or leather)
(that would be one occasion, where using a mask makes sense)

you might to want to look at the pics there:

Thanks Korm… experienced advice is always welcome…

Holy Foam. I wish I had stock in foam board. . . . I can’t wait to see this really come to life. I dream of an indoor g scale layout this size. I think your indoor layout is bigger than my outdoor layout.
