Excellent build!!! I’m impressed with the different exterior wall treatments you included. Thanks for posting the build!!

Hollywood,
That turned out very nice.
Very authentic looking.

Great job all around Bro !

The fire escapes are impressive. How about some close ups?

BTW, how did you do that black tile? I like the look.

Thank you all,

Rooster I look for a scale stew pot big enough for 5 chickens and a Rooster.
Dave Hill, all done by scribing lines
Bruce, I’ve included some pics on the escapes. The tile is plain plastic scribed to 2’ squares, painted gloss black then rescribed to clear any paint that might have gotten in the grooves.Clear coat over all.

This thread has been re-populated with the pics and I added a few more pics of details that I hadn’t included

Hollywood, my hat’s off to you. That was an amazing build, I love all the details that really bring the scene to life. Thanks for restoring the photos, it was well worth the read this morning.

OUTSTANDING WORKMANSHIP !!! You are one top shelf craftsman !!!

Thank you all for the comments :sunglasses:

That was a fun 13 year trip this morning. Do you have a photo on the layout?

Looks great , lots of time , are you leaving it outside all the time ?

In all honesty it is still sitting in the train shed

I’m glad to see these pics still stand! I’ll never forget the day he took the block of stores with him to go see his mother. He was so proud of them and couldn’t wait to show her the childhood memories he recreated in our scale.

I talked to him a couple days later and I asked if mom liked his models.

He said: " I guess but she kinda pissed me off".

I said: “why”

He said: “Her first response was” …"You didn’t tell me you were building dollhouses these days!!! "

Thanks for reviving this thread Rooster. Hollywood’s train shed had many treasures, like this and a row of buildings and their rear sides and endless details. All parked on a two-level railroad benchwork that somehow led to his erstwhile outdoor layout, I think. All impressive work, as exemplified in his “block of stores”.

Haha, Rooster,

Thanks for sharing that, I can hear my grandmother saying it :100:.
