Oh to be a fly on the wall of the ringmaster’s tent in the Baboon’s Flying Circus Troupe. Possible phone call to Hermann -
“Herman, make another bid on the company. I promise that we will back you up 100%”
“What about finance?”
“Don’t worry about finance, we know where to get all the money we need.”
“Are you sure. Last time I was left standing on a limb, with the vultures ready to swoop.”
“I promise you this time will be different. We, I mean you, really need to get control of the company.”
“I was in charge of the company, until someone pulled the rug out from under me!”
“Hermann, trust me. Everything will be fine this time and we can all do what we do best. We just need to get the company back into family hands. I mean your hands. The operative word is TRUST.”
“Are you there Hermann? Hermann, don’t you trust me? Right, who do we call next?”
Voice from offside - “What about calling Axel?”
“Do not. I repeat, do not call Axel. He went down this road twelve months ago and he has better connections than we do. He has more finance available than even our friends do.”
Voice from offside - “Then all is lost?”
“Well, not all is lost. I suppose that we could emigrate to Germany, we know a few people over there that helped us out previously.”
Voice from offside - “I know. Let’s start a company that provides servicing for Marklin locomotives. All unofficial of course, but after a while we may get company approval, then we could set up a distribution company for the manufacturer and establish a dealer network and wharehousing facilities. Before long we will be back on top again and save our jobs.”
“That’s a good idea, original, but a good idea. I have a feeling of deja vue. This idea may actually work. Call the boys in Germany and run it by them. If they approve, then we will give it a go. What could we lose?”
Voice from offside - “Final question. What about all this stock in the wharehouse? Now that the company is no more, what will we do with it?”
“Leave it all to me. Get Hermann on the line. Oh, wait a minute, we went down that road.”
Voice from offside - “Have you seen the latest news, Axel got the nod.”
“I knew it. I knew it. I knew that we should have gone with Axel and not wasted time with others.”
