Large Scale Central

Black Thursday, the 26th has arrived...well, any news?

Just remember, everybody is putting a bit of spin on what they say. That includes Marklin, LGBoA and the ventilators. I still have my gut feelings that this thing ain't over yet.
I agree.

When posting the translation of the AP release in the one forum I mentioned that this is just the first step. Like one shoe dropped!

What a fitting end for a “Toy Train Manufacturer”, bought buy another “Toy Train Manufacturer”!!

I know what I would do if I were G45 & Co. I’d fight for the molds I might already have and let Marklin have the LGB name. Time to start all over. I think they could pull it off with the modern US equipment they were on course with. I’d hit the market with a reasonably scale USRA 0-6-0 and 2-8-0 as well as the modern freight that they were producing…and cozy up to Piko REAL tight.

Even if I were Marklin I think I would scrap the LGB name as its been trashed so bad that I doubt if it will be worth a crap for a number of years to come. I’d take LGB’s molds and produce them under the already known and respected Marklin name.

Not sure there is any “fight”.
This was a court decision.
If the molds have the trademark, and Maerklin got the trademarks, guess who owns the molds?
Back to question marks?

Why? So that you guys can trash Marklin for not producing trains that aren't "scale"? Gimme a break

Yes, those double negatives make things look mighty nice. ;) :)

That’s what Im hoping for, that Märklin will not produce trains that aren’t to scale. That would be a nice start! Thank you!

I wouldn’t get my hopes up if I were you. Marklin bought the existing tooling to ship to China so they won’t have to invest in new tooling for the Garden railway market. They will basically repackage and reissue old LGB products.
LGB’s hallmark was excellent running quality and durability - now that the factory will be closed and the employees (designers) are gone we can all pretty much kiss the quality goodbye. Marklin will do what everyone else does- send a picture to China and say “design this”.
All of us in North America who have enjoyed the San Diego repair facility can pretty much say adios as well. Good luck getting parts from now on.

And before everyone out there gets all excited about the prospect of Marklin taking over LGB try to remember all the employees in Nurnberg whose lives have been damaged due to those wonderful banks and that fabulous investment group. As far as I’m concerned you guys who are revelling in all of this are pretty heartless.

Hey HJ.

Marvin the (not so) Magnificent strikes again?
I really don’t know why he bothers.
Plagiarism, Identity theft, Troll promotion, and now double negatives. Wheeeeeeeeee!!!

Grow up!
or should I bring it down to your level Tony- Na na na na na!

JJ,
I am sitting on the fence on this but your quote - “And before everyone out there gets all excited about the prospect of Marklin taking over LGB try to remember all the employees in Nurnberg whose lives have been damaged due to those wonderful banks and that fabulous investment group. As far as I’m concerned you guys who are revelling in all of this are pretty heartless.”

Cast your mind back around twelve months ago and then carry forward to the present day. Look to the cousins, the DB Circus troupe and the banks and you will see the story. The banks acted only after supposed shenanigans were afoot. Bankers are not fools (particularly large investment banks). If you want to blame someone for loss of jobs then look closer to home and stop believing your own spin.

Well, for the entire world to see, he’s now classified as a moron.
We already have a McMoron, so we’re going to have to be specific…

I do wonder about all those “reliable sources”, and the continuous banter about what’s really going to happen.

Somebody didn’t bet on the bob-tailed nag…

No amount of damage control can save your worthless hide now.

A concerted effort was made to drag out your very best, and now it’s IN PRINT.

You have an extremely exalted opinon of yourself, yet you are so freaking stupid you sent out a directive with the full distribution list attached.

No matter what phony name you generate, eventually your true schizoid persona shines through.
Thank-you for being so predictable.

Marvin, we have a saying in Australia, "don't come the raw prawn with me".

Just who was it that lost all the money in the first place?
The two Richter cousins caused the demise. Not HJ, TOC, me or anyone else.
They played with fire and got burned.
They caused the factory to close in the first place.
They “transferred” the assets to G45 when trading whilst knowingly insolvent.
They shipped millions of $$$$ worth of stock out of Germany just prior to becoming insolvent.
They have a lot to answer for.
Perhaps they will be asked to answer for their actions, perhaps they won’t.
That may be for yet another court to decide.

Never mind the message eh??
Just attack the messenger in your childish manner as usual.

Sorry to prick your bubble Marvin.
It didn’t turn out like you predicted or hoped for. Methinks you believed a tad too much of your Corporate spin.
Now what?
Back to spooking?

Oh, and by the way, if you want to use big words you should learn to spell.
It is omniscient, with an “s”.

Boy, I wish we could have free-speech Thursdays around here.
Marvin, you are an (&^)^. You have always been an )(&)%% and always will be.
Your childish pranks impress maybe those feeble-minded enough to follow the company line and eat only what they are fed.

But that is less than 6% of the Garden Railroaders.

Why don’t you just stuff it firmly up your (*&^)^^% and go away?

You are just a pot-stirrer, not a clear thought of your own.

Bob,

True. But at least Märklin (under the old management which was … ) has proven that they can make real scale items - when the mood hits them.

There is one certain change: management. If the old would have become the new, it would have been same old, same old for sure.

Now we wait and see what happens. No, I’m not holding my breath, I just carry on with what I’m doing. Right now that’s pestering the Kitchen People to get the counter top in and the rest completed. They are holding up my plumbing projects!

Which reminds me, today is Thursday. Two most important facts for a plumber to remember? Sh-- flows downhill and payday is on Thursday.  All the rest is skill.

Which leads to:

The brain surgeon calls the plumber about the plugged sink. Plumber arrives, clears the drain in two minutes, writes up the bill.

Surgeon: " Four hundred dollars?!?!"

Plumber: “Yes, after all it isn’t how long it takes, it’s the skills that are applied!”

Disclaimer: I never worked as a plumber, but I have unplugged enough drains to appreciate the sentiment.

OMG!

I cannot believe what I’m reading. A complete denial of whats been going on for the last 8 months! or is that the last year!

From what I’ve read here there and elsewhere it clear that EPL and EPL alone put EPL into bankrupcy, by not reading the market, not adjusting to the market, and getting left behind by the market. EPL may have well as stabbed their own employees in the back and as good as burned down their own factory and then have the balls to blame the fire department when they show up to put out the fire.

Try this, stop paying your mortgage, then after the creditors come to sell your house to cover the debt start screaming that its the evil bank making a hostile takeover of whats obviously your God given right to own that house, and see how long before your in the hoose-gow!

If anyone ever EVER needed a clearer example of my “Two types you cannot argue with” I cannot think of a better example than what I’ve read on this page …

Ugggggggggggggggggggggggggh !!!

Vic,

How about it being a combination of the two types? OTOH with so many persona wrapped into one, it would be hard to decide where what starts and which ends.

Diagnosis: severe case of hyperventilation!

The man is certifiable, Vic.

You GOTTA read this:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/LGBFamily/message/974

“Perhaps Märklin would like to hear from us - their potential future
customers - to hear from us how they could best separate us from our money by hearing what is most important to us.”

The entire post is the most pompous, preposterous rendition of crap I’ve seen yet.

First one to “jump ship”, too.
