Yes it’s a golf “T” the top is a button that my wife has several of that had a nice texture and color and I cut the sewing loop off the back

Day 20?
Been working on the interior got the seats and counter top in and would you know it as soon as I did there was standing room only!!! had to fix some windows as apparently the window film I used is not acrylic, came from packaging, and didn’t react with the mek glue so had to do some regluing, see if I can’t get a little more done this afternoon as long as it doesn’t get too cold.

I’m doing something similar for my “Sal Monella’s House of Fine Eats” diner, though it’s not for the Challenge, and am watching this thread with great interest. I started with a PIKO Blue Comet Wood Combine that was a “cheap” Ebay purchase.
Since plagiarism is the sincerest form of flattery I will be shamelessly ripping off some of your ideas and techniques.

Mark, the seated figures except for the one fat guy at the end are some very inexpensive Chinese sold as, g scale but suspect them to be 1:24, that I purchased for my coaches. Very poor detail and paint but in a coach who can tell, the fat guy at the end and the one standing are preiser figures along with the lady fixing to sit down, which since the picture I have moved her behind the counter when I realized I didn’t have a waitress. By far if seen well preiser figures are not only the pest looking but the most expensive and they have a great selection but I have purchased a few just plain folk and they are also good but not as classy. Should have made the diner bigger but not wanting to increase size I decided on just bar stools and no booths as the with of the coaches is pretty small and it all came from junk I had laying around and I think the so far the only thing that I have purchaused is the god awful purple paint that the real owner just loves.

I love it. I hope you able to get some good interior “through the window” shots of this for your glamor photos. That is first rate.
Day 21
got more done on the interior and the diner main windows in this time using E 6000. Made some plates out of buttons and glasses out of styrene tubing and added some signage to the inside and out side, added some food look to the plates and wouldn’t you know it, as soon as I did the raccoons showed up. Getting pretty close to wrapping it up, a few more signs and window material in the clerestory area and will be finished, fun build.

Day 23 I think, having so much fun I’ve lost track of the time. Tried some window shots pictures, not sure the windows are so small you don’t get to see much of the action, made a couple of signs which will finish off the front of the building, now turning my attention to the back side. All I have back there is the kitchen door , vent van on the wall and some raccoons stealing garbage, would like some ideas for something to break up the back. Thought about graffiti but don’t think that was around during this period style. So and suggestions are more than welcome, Bill

backs of buildings are kinda boring. Maybe some bread racks, empty milk crates, pallets, Buckets of old grease. A wino.

day almost done
Not sure what day it is and don’t have enough fingers to count and got my shoes on so just going to say almost over. got my big signage on the left side of the building where the kitchen is and it did a nice job of breaking up the big “purple” wall. Been trying to think how to break up the back wall and got some good ideas from Devon but don’t think I want any thing extra floating around that’s not attached to the building, just not in to floating parts, so like he said “backs of buildings are kind of boring”. Added a little weathering to the exterior and touched up the access screws so I think I’m pretty much done. I have had a fun time with this project and kind comments from everyone. Most of all I think I have really enjoyed seeing all the different builds going on, have gotten so great ideas only wish I had a laser inkjet printer so I could make neat signs. Thanks to everyone for including me in this year’s event but I’m certainly glad I don’t have to do the judging. Well I’ve spent a total of $6.95 for evergreen 4150 sheet, 1/2 can of defiantly purple paint @ $3.95 divided by 2 and that’s about it, glade I had a bunch of junk on hand. Who says you get out of judging? Participants also cast their votes. Came out excellent and understand about floating parts.
Great looking diner, Bill.You did an excellent job, not only on the outside, but your interior work is first class and the signs just bring it home. Oh, and like Devon said, you DO have to judge. That’s the hardest part of this entire challenge.
