I’m glad and happy to report that my run times with battery are up around 4+ hours. I think the cycling of the battery was the key. I did look at the lights and they do not seem to change in brightness with respect to speed, a good thing, right.
I can absolutely live with 4 hours.
And by the way, my installer was very responsive to my concerns. . . . Good people in this train hobby!!!
Shelly,
I run two USA GP-9’s together, with about 12-14 cars can get one hour on a 2.5 amh battery.
USA engines are power hogs. I can run the same train with LGB A-B-A units for two hours.
I measure my run times in days, but that’s because I am not doing continuous running. One trip out and back is about 15 minutes if I take my time. The one loco that uses Lion has been charged a total of two times since I installed the battery during the winter.
My power-hog is triple head RS-3’s But I can still get several trips out-and-back out of a worn-out drill battery.
Most of my runs are an hour or less, I use 7.2 nicad batteries, and they do the job for me. I have not ventured into the lion side of the “Dark Side” as of yet!! I like the safety of nicad’s and they do the job for me. Only problem i’ve had is buying some less expensive ones on the “Evil Bay” went bad and this well known retailer who does Evil with his co. would not stand by the batteries. AND thanks to Greg E. he edumacated me on how to snap em back into reality, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t this time it worked for me, so I wasn’t out of $50 on the two new/defective batteries. I won’t do business with em anymore either, because of their lack of customer support. Regal
