Baldwin Sharknose kit in 1/29th

I finally got back to the Shark. I had put the blue on a couple of months ago. The D&H color scheme sorta held me up for awhile. My wife cut the yellow stripes out of vinyl(used to have a sign shop). I used them as a guide for the taping . I used clear Frisket Film on the curve so I could follow the stripe as a guide. I still need to do the etched grills that came with the kit, put on the horns/lights/window/interior/couplers.

looks great Jerry…

The blue is a Rustoleum spay can color TAC. I got these cars/loco at a auction of a closed restaurant. They had been on the wall for years as decoration, getting coated with grease dirt(top photo). I talked to the guy that made them, guess he does a lot of model making for architects and lawyers. Has stuff in the Smithsonian. These are all wood, in 1/32nd scale. Even the trucks wheels are. I cleaned up the cars and thought they would go with the Shark. I had some Great Trains passenger side frames and wheels, so making them up and will put them on. Plan to sell the loco/tender. It is a 4-8-4 Mountain.

I LOVE to see handwork.

Beautiful cars and loco.

I got the Great Trains side frames and wheels on today. Found a few other Great Trains pieces I plan to add, some doors. Since the cars are solid wood I think I’ll try track power on it. Getting some ball bearing pickups from Kidmans, along with some 820 Kadees.

I got some more done on the Shark. Interior and windows are in and a few decals are on. Still need to get on the front one. Handles are bent and painted, as are the grills. Those go on next. Front and rear couplers are mounted also.

Looks great. I wish he would make a rs1 kit.

I always liked the “Blue Nose” on either the SF or DH.

Sharp!

I have the grills installed on one side now. Windows cut and installed, to fit in the opening, not behind. Decals are on(thanks Stan!) as are the handrails. Just the horns left and the grills on the other side. Mars light is also installed, as is the interior(part of a E-8).

Great looking model Jerry, well worth the wait to see how they came out. How about some more pictures of that 4-8-4 you showed earlier?

Chuck

Chuck, Here’s the wood model 4-8-4 Burlington, was up on the wall in a restaurant for years, with those silver passenger cars, which are now D&H cars, with metal wheels. It’s 1/32nd scale, the modeler said. All wood, including the wheels. Thinking of selling it, but not firm on that yet.
