Ok the question is why do some vender websites still list the ghost sw1 if aristo has never came out with this engine ? Thanks troy
Come on guys someone must have the answer
Train world and rld hobbies have it on there websites with no prices
Troy?? I would suggest, if you want answers to the question, ask the people that are listing it… They are the only ones that know the correct answer…

The whole point to this question is why aristo is still letting this go on. I heard they did research on this engine and primary tooling was ready and never appeared. We have not seen many new engines in many years from any manufacture. Hell even USA just brought back the nw 2 into production. Talking about that I need to check if there doing prr livery anytime soon.
Personally, I think the SW-1 would be the perfect sized diesel loco for Aristo to build…
HOWEVER, we already have the NW-2 and S-4 of nearly the same vintage as the SW-1. I wish they would shake it up and make an SW-1500 or MP-15!?!..OR go the other way and build a vintage Boxcab switcher!?!
While you’re at it, Troy, ask when they are going to do the SD-9 and the Northern, will ya?
I just wanted to know why retailers had these on there sites for well over a year now with no real release in sight
It’s “bait and switch”. Business as usual.
there…should have been their site…!!
Troy I don’t know if they’re just gauging interest or if they’re truly serious. Aristo recently underwent a change in command…so I think we ought to be patient while they sort out their new operations. If you’re really excited about the SW-1, I’d post about it on the Aristo-Craft web site Aristo Forum. That way they will know people actually want it. Making a new model is an expensive undertaking…probably $200k for molding and fixtures.
It’s no surprise that many of our different models share parts. The FA-1, U25b, doodlebug, little critter, RDC, and RS3 all share the same power blocks for instance. If the Sw-1 can’t use the trucks from the center cab loco, it probably won’t happen without an overwhelming request.
Realistically, would probably look forward to seeing another EMD locomotive which can use the GP40 trucks. The sky is the limit…personally I would build an F40PH. There are a lot of LGB Amfleets running around, but only P42s pulling them!
You guys are making me dizzy with all this sw-1, f40ph stuf. Glad Im a steam guy

hehehe
Shawn…we will try again this year, at the Invasion, to treat Andy’s afliction…he has Dieselititous, and has to be kept on his meds, or he gets carried away with numbers…as you have just seen…
Mr Polk announced the build of the sw1 a few years ago before he gave the reigns to Scott. I asked a few times on the Aristo forum if this was still a go. More than once the reply was yes. However that was a while ago. I have noticed that a few dealers are listing the loco with a TBA enclosed. I have also heard that the loco would use the same motor blocks as the new interurban trolley uses. But that’s just hear say until we see the real deal. As far as gauging the interest in such a loco I would have thought that would have been done before committing to build it.?
All hail diesel down with the steam !!! Ha Ha Ha oh boy did I just make some enemies
I’m still waiting for the SD-9
The SW-1 has been mentioned by Lewis Polk over and over… He has stated that the PCC trucks will drive it.
As for advertising it way ahead of production, just research the SD-9 which was advertised for years and had an aristo part number and never happened.
I believe as soon as Aristo gets some spending money they’ll definitely make the SW-1.
