All hail diesel down with the steam !!!!! Ha Ha Ha oh boy did I just make some enemies :)
Steam cigar on wheels
Good point , forgot about the sd9.
Polk today in the recent Aristo- propaganda newsletter said the sw1 is still on a burner, only need 9995 more people to agree to get one if they do it (10k is apparently what he needs to make it worth the $$)
So I guess on a final note on this thread I think retailers should remove these ghost listings especially since its bad for business. I live by the creed if you can’t sell it or have it don’t advertise it. That’s good business. New people just starting out in this scale might be alittle turned off by retailers trying to sell phantom products no one really makes or has in stock. We need to try to be better in all areas of the scale to enhance a new persons expectations if we want this end of the hobby to grow. Thanks Troy Malecki

If it wasn’t for this ghost listing and you guys talking about it I wouldn’t have known Aristo was even considering a new engine. Demand for this product is the only thing that will create the supply. Hiding this information doesn’t create demand it hurts it.
Mark, Aristo has been talking about the SW-1 for years, and I believe it has even been shown in some catalogs. You gotta get out more
I don’t live on forum boards and the internet Greg
Two very good retailers have this listing for the sw1 up with no prices I have dealt with both and have been very happy. A good point made earlier is that aristo should advertise it not retailers if they want interest in it. There have been a lot of manufactures that pull these future projects because lack of interest and preorders.

I was reacting to your phrase “Hiding this information”.
How can you say it’s hiding?
I mention it has been expressed many times, and then you say you don’t live on the Internet or forums?
Who is to blame for hiding? You certainly cannot blame Aristo, it’s been expressed many times.
Greg
A well know German manufacturer announces it’s forthcoming productions, then determines the amount of interest gauged by actual orders with retailers then culls the items not receiving sufficient actual orders.
It is human nature to await an item’s release before outlaying any money on it. Howver, with the German manufacturer one is basically coerced into making a firm preorder commitment to ensure production proceeds.
IBM was well known for that, specing and announcing a product before it was even designed.

By asking for the removal of the SW1 listing on pages, this topic wouldn’t have been started. The exact opposite should happen, every online retailer should list the product and help create demand for the project, as most people in the hobby are not forum members and do not know it is somthing that;s possible.
Now I’m really confused. The OP asked why dealers advertise the SW1 if it was never made.
The answer is that Aristo intends to make it and has announced this to the public and dealers in several ways.
If I understand you clearly, all the retailers should “chip in”, and advertise to help create demand.
But, then you have the EXACT frustration that started this thread, that something is being advertised and does not exist.
As a retailer, do you want a bunch of irate people calling to order only to tell them that Aristo is “thinking” about building it, and after many years of saying they wanted to, and even stating on their own forum that it would be produced in 2010, now it still does not exist.
I would think that the dealers are much more concerned with not making their customers upset, and also spending valuable advertising $$ on things they can sell.
I don’t think there is a simple answer here… a balance between trying to create demand, and banging your head against a wall for years on promises!
Nothing is simple… you should look up the history of the Aristo SD-9 some time.

Maybe Aristocraft can learn from aml

They sure could, but Aristo is in financial difficulty. Accuraft is run differently and they have other advantages, they make their own stuff… Aristo is at the mercy of Kader.
The Aristo management reacts very differently to problems presented to them.
I won’t go into the whole story but I’m no longer on the Aristo forum because I had to shut up about problems rather than detail them on my site.
When I brought a problem with an AML product to the head of Marketing, he invited me to sit and talk with the president of Accucraft, who listened to me for 2 hours (torture huh?) and then he corrected EVERY problem I demonstrated to him, and THANKED me for bringing them to his attention.
So, yes, I think Aristo could learn from AML…I completely agree.
