Aristo Craft parts

Back to the original thread.

Tonight Scott told us that he is bringing in product, more of the same. At least 2 containers of product that has been sitting there in China. New old stock. So no improvements in that product.

The molds are indeed owned by Kader, but he is hoping he can negotiate exclusive rights to them,

Once he gets the new old stock moved, and some cash flow, he is hoping to rework and reintroduce the ore cars and dash 9. So eventually he hopes to improve the products he sells. How much? I do not know. He also said he wants to bring back the full Aristo line, but not the 1:24 stuff.

Again, I am not holding my breath, I just want to wait and see what happens. And, again, I wish him luck.

AH, so the speculation ends and we now know 100% for sure. That actually fits with the standard Chinese toy manufacturing practices and is very common. Upsies is you get your product for a lower price because Kader is absorbing the tooling costs, downsies is that if your company goes under, Kader can and will use that tooling for any else will to pay for the production.

It will be interesting to see if Scott Polk can indeed reclaim the licensing rights, I’m sure it’s only about the money for Kader. Disappointing he doesnt want the 1/24 stuff, I hope Kader can find someone who is interested in that line…be a shame to see that line fade away.

David, I guess that MAY end the speculation on who owns the tooling, but I’m thinking somone will still insist he’s a liar and Louie still owns it, lol

As for the 2 containers, is it track or a mix bag of old aristo stuff?

Ore cars sound good to me, dash-9’s not so much…

Mark, Scott didnt say what was in the containers. I did ask about the website, and he told me its set up, but he isnt making it live until he has the product. So, my guess is, that once he has the stuff, he will turn on the site and we will get to see what he has.

How do you ‘print’ tooled metal?

By default any 3D printing involves material and some sort of binder like glue or resin, thats quite a bit different from taking molten brass, form that into barstock thats then tooled into a beveled gear. When someone ‘prints’ out a working and durable Barry’s gear box, then I’ll believe the future is now.

I hearing ya Mr. Smith, but my youngest son’s best friend’s mom works for Lockheed-Martin here in Denver and they are printing parts in TITANIUM…I can only imagine what that would cost. Technology-wise, maybe we need to convince the aero-space industry and the Pentagon that model railroaders should have priority. I called her up and asked I could slip in some Saturday and print out a couple of indestructible 1:24 items for my layout.

p.s…I’ll have a locomotive surprise just for you in the next couple of weeks, I ain’t telling what though.

There was a lot of interest in the ore cars when they were initially anounced but less for the Heritage DASH 9’s. Scott did mention that we would get them eventually - when and from whom he did could not say.

I believe the delay with the web site is again in accord with what he has said in the past.

Hopefully the £ will continue to slowly rise against the $; then some of over here may consider buying from the States more often.

It is the shipping costs, coupled with UK taxation that is a deterrent.

Unless there is a Spring storm on the Pacific and/or the containers get lost.

So with the ECLST show over; do we have any concrete answers about whether anybody has Aristo Parts?

You need to contact Navin for aristo craft parts,
If he has what you are looking for. If not as Scott starts to bring in the locos he will also start bringing in parts.

(Feb. 24) Students at UCSD have successfully fired the first rocket engine created via 3D printing and is planning a second firing on Saturday:

Navin has the left over parts. 201-565-6069 [email protected]

There was a whole wall of cannibalized trains on one wall of their conference room that I wanted. Navin said someone came in with cash for the whole wall, and it was gone!

Someone? Gee, that person could make a killing.

In the expected arrival list that Scott Polk has, he had FA trucks listed. Beyond that I didn’t see any parts per say on the lists Scott had. I got some replacement roof-walks from Starr Hobby. But the other parts were scarce. I saw a few caboose trucks, but I didn’t see any other trucks or parts at the show.

I got the rest of the roof walks.

Now that the speculation on who owns the molds is over.

And the speculation whether new product was manufactured or it was stuff sitting on the dock, waiting to be paid for…

We’re where several of us “bashers” stated… he needs to make enough money to buy that stuff, and then sell it.

The hopes then are that he can afford to come up with the cash to have another manufacturing run made… more money, but nothing compared to the money needed to make something new, engineering, design and making molds.

I wish him well, but he needs money… it’s not a slam dunk… and again, back to the topic, they have never made parts separately (except wheels and couplers) from an actual production run of a car or loco.

Greg

Lou, good for you.

Greg, yes, we have those answers now, straight from Scott. He does want to make improvements later on, although he didn’t elaborate. He also said he wants to do things that his uncle didn’t want to do. What that means he didn’t want to explain further.

I did notice the Scott was really dragging, he looked and sounded very tired. He didn’t have the same enthusiasm that he had in the past. So this whole adventure may be taking a toll on him.

The things he said, that he didn’t elaborate on, will most likely feed the rumor mill as to what he meant. So, I am still in “wait and see mode”.

What were some of the 1.24 rolling stock items Aristo Craft had available?

I am relatively new @ L.S

Everyone has his/her own way of announcing intentions, but it would be easier to just stick with the “here and now” e.g. GeneratioNeXt will provide/sell 45mm track. There wouldn’t be much to elaborate on i.e. list, sell, deliver and take it from there. It will take a lot of sold track to come up with the money for a production run of a few cars, never mind engines.

William - did you mean at the York Show? Aristo did not have anything for sale, but I was surprised at the amount dealers still had, some at reasonable prices. Of course there are always a few higher priced tables.

William.

I am sure you are asking about the Aristo-Craft Classic range. These were products I believe made using some moulds from a company called Delton.

Another company had some of the moulds Aristo did not get.

Look for pages 78 to 87 in this link.

http://www.aristocraftforum.com/catalog/index.html

You may still be able to get some of these items from dealers such as Star Hobbies who have or had good Aristo stocks, second hand and auction sites would be another avenue.

So, just to circle back to the topic of this thread, Scott did not announce any manufacturing of parts, nor the availability of parts other than FA trucks.

Crest-electronics.com, via Navin, has the rest of the parts from the Aristo closure.

Did anyone get a copy of the “expected arrival list?”

EDIT: here’s what Scott presented:

Egg Liner - War bonnet
Egg Linder - Lady Bug
Egg Liner - Snow Flake
Egg Liner - Christmas Wreath
FA-1 - PRR Tuscan 5 Stripe
FA-1 - War Bonnet
Track Cleaning Car - Aristo
PCC Trolley - Baltimore
PCC Trolley - Capital Transit
PCC Trolley - Minneapolis
Streamline Set - Santa Fe
Streamline Coach - Santa Fe
C16 Coal - Rio Grande
C16 Wood - Rio Grande
Heavy Weight Set - PRR
Heavy Weight Coach - PRR
FA1 Motor Block
Modern Freight Truck
0-4-0 Switcher - Christmas
0-4-0 Switcher - PRR
0-4-0 Switcher - Union Pacific
0-4-0 Switcher - Santa Fe

I would imagine this is about a concise description of the parts situation as can be made.

Greg

Greg, I grabbed a copy of the “in stock” list and a copy of the expected arrival list.

Hans, as Greg had stated before, the stuff Scott is bringing in is new old stock. Stock that was made for Aristocraft, but not delivered because of financing (or lack thereof). Scott was talking about having new stuff made, but it will be “more of the same”. Meaning the same molds, tooling and “issues” we have come to expect from Aristocraft. Eventually Scott wants to make “improvements”. Scott didn’t and probably couldn’t give a time-frame. Scott also wants to bring back the dash 9. All of this is wants tos, and plans. Time will tell.
