"Gov. Jay Nixon has declared a state of emergency in Missouri and activated the Missouri National Guard in preparation for the severe winter storm moving into the area.

Emergency generators also have been moved to staging locations across the state, Nixon said in a prepared statement Monday.

“Most of Missouri is expected to be affected by this severe winter storm, which is predicted to cause treacherous road conditions and possibly widespread power outages,” Nixon said. “My chief concern is the safety of Missourians, and these orders make state agency resources and the citizen soldiers of the Missouri National Guard available to help communities respond.” "

You all can KEEP it!!! And I don’t want the sleet/freezing rain/snow mix they’ve forecast for us either!

Oh, and is that why they named it, “Misery”

Dang I am going to miss all the fun again.

That's what it is south of the river. North of the river it's Mizer-uh.

I’m in STL…stuck on my college campus all week (25 mile drive home and I may not be able to get back). If classes are cancelled…? MACHINE SHOP. Need to finish this tender and continue work on my loco frames.

The national news this evening is predicting nothing short of Armageddon. I’m pretty sure you can’t buy ingredients for French Toast anywhere between St. Louis and Boston. They have been telling us to shovel our roofs or risk cave-in. Mine is too high to reach with a roof rake and there is no way I’m going up there. I don’t trust the contractors offering shoveling and melting services. I hope homeowner’s insurance would cover any damage. Might just get the second floor I’ve always wanted

I guy in nj got killed trying to get snow off of roof he fell off. I’m lucky the wind blew most of my snow off my roof. I’m just dealing with budge icicles.

Except for that I live there, snow on roof of apartment building is someone else’s problem.

A friend in Malaysia was worried about me. “How often does this happen?”

“Oh, once every year or two. The news makes it sound like the end of life in the US, but all will be fine. The kids will have a day off from school to play in the snow.”

We have close to 48" of snow on the yard, and 20-24 forecast for the next 2 days. I used a roof rake on what I could reach on the roof, but we’re just going to pray and hold tight.

Well, why would anyone pay attention to the news if it wasn't?

Forrest I am not in St. Louis right now. I’m out in SoCal.
WE did have a wind storm last night it closed three roads because of sand piles.

Well fellas, I used to live in north east NJ. Been gone 25 years and don’t miss all that mess one bit. It has been real cold in northern Florida this year, but the frozen precipitation has stayed clear.

Got my reminder of what is was like in Charlotte the other week, and that was enough for me. Good luck all, keep warm and keep safe.

I think I ruther the snow and ice than BUGS. My brother and baby sister live in Myrtle Beach… 3" flying cockroach (palmetto bug) city

Snow’s almost all gone, here in beautiful downtown Deer Park. :stuck_out_tongue:

Snow and wind are not here, yet. Some ice, but not that bad. Getting tired of French Toast, already.

We’re supposed to get cpld and wind later today but NO SNOW! I really feel for everyone east of the Rockies.

They sent me home. I’m supposed to be programming. Snowing lightly and windy here. Some blowing snow. Expecting the “Blizzard” to hit in about half an hour.
